96 legacy abs light always on

Featured Replies

i finally got around to removing and cleaning each sensor. The light still stays on. It goes out after startup, but when you start to move the car it comes back on. How can I check the sensors electrically? Do I have to reset the abs computer? thanks ...Lee

On my '91 there is an LED under the passenger seat that will provide a code without hooking up any wires or connectors. It's covered by a little flap of carpet as I remember. I'm not sure how new Subarus are, but if it's there, I'll dig out my manual and provide the diagnostics.

The ABS does a self test after the car starts to move, the pump activates and it checks itself for problems. If your light goes on at this time it must see a problem.

have you swapped or checked your brake fluid lately?

abs light will come on and stay on when fluid is low.

check the fuse also.

gooooood luck

I had the same problem in my 95. My problem cost $300.00 and it didn't get fixed(brake mechanic-dumba$$)

I traced the wires and there is a connector under the rear seat that was broke and disconnected -I used a zip tie/tie wrap to connect it and the problem was gone.
