1992 Subaru Loyale 5spd, AWD, Turbo Possibility/Advice?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I've recently picked up a '92 Subaru Loyale 5spd AWD, with the EA82. Thoughts are kicking around in my head already if it can be easily boosted. It's not my primary driver, so time to work on it isn't a problem. Done a quick search, but never turned up anything. Also done a quick search for aftermarket pistons (As I assume stockers won't like boost too much) and never turned up anything ethier. I'm guessing it's Fuel injected, as FI is stamped on the intake (Honestly haven't had enough good time to look). There are no EA82T's around here, so direct bolt on doesn't seem to be an option.

Anyone here have an EA82 that they Turbo'd themselves, and can shed some light on this for me? I'd greatly appreciate it. Looking forward to learning from you guys, and learning a lot more about these cars! Thanks,

Hodder

How much do you want to pour in to this..?

What are your hopes as far as HP?

There is realy no simple route for this. Your going to need a exhaust setup for the turbo then an engine managment system and then a pipeing system for the intake and maybe some kind of inercooling. Your fuel systme will probbalby also change a bit. You might also have to reroute your cooling lines if you get a water cooled turbo.

Then get ready to start braking parts. I dont know how much of the ea82T stuff will bolt right on but If you wait a bit some one will be along shortly to help you out.

You might just want to look for an engine swap. Maybe out of a wrecked wrx.

The easier route would be a ej22 swap.
