HonzaCZ
Hi, I'm from Czech Republic (central Europe). I have defective catalytic converter on my Legacy Outback 2.5 AT '01. Have anyone here expirience with using US or UK CATs in European cars? There are some emission norms and I exactly don't know, if they're same or different across the world. Logically, function of CAT should be always same, but I think that it's not really true. What do you think about mounting US or UK CAT? Thanks for help. Legacy777
Should be fine using a CAT from another country.
HonzaCZ
Thanks for reply, what do you think about using non-original CAT? I found two companys, it's shipping to our country: first & second But I don't know, that non-original CAT can work correctly (emission check, motor management) and how long? Non-originals are about 4-5times cheaper than original SUBARU. In our country there is no non-original CAT dealer for SUBARU, so there are no servicemen who can try it and test it. Any experiences with non-originals?
Legacy777
I do have a high flow cat from magnaflow that I am using with my aftermarket exhaust. It seems to work alright. However I don't have any experience with replacement cats for OEM exhaust. In reality, it should work fine. I don't know if they will last as long. They should still pass all the emissions tests/checks. My suggestion would be to see if you can get some feedback from users in Europe on the non-OEM catalytic converters being sold.
