May 24, 200916 yr 2 fog light questions....While I have a'08 OB that has oval shaped fog lights. # 1. I am interested in "round" fog lights, whatever was the last year they came in an OB!!! I am guessing that they were 5"??? # 2. Also, Is there any advantage to a Sealed Beam setup ( excluding the whole idea of how they would be mounted) Do sealed beams last longer? Thanks, Bill
May 25, 200916 yr I don't have an answer for your first question. As for #2.... Sealed beam lights are the old style where the reflector is part of the bulb. They tend to be less expensive because the housings are very inexpensive to make. Compound lighting systems tend to generate more useful light patterns and so appear brighter. So far as I know, Subaru has never used sealed beam fog lights, but I could be wrong there. The other nice thing about compound lighting is that its easy to upgrade. Basic Halogen bulbs are plentiful and cheap. But you can upgrade them to cool blue for not much more money. If you REALLY want them bright, HID upgrade kits are not terribly expensive.
