Hi all, new to the forum and to subarus as well. I just got my hands on a '99 JDM legacy wagon with an ej20tt. Convinced the wife it was "just a wagon" Little did she know it goes like hell!!!! My first problem is when shifting into drive, the trans may take up to ten seconds to engage.....once in gear its fine, just takes a sec to get into gear. Any suggestions?

Not just low or severely overfilled on fluid? (check with car running and in park) Is the trans pan bashed in?
