friend sprayed WD-40 in his disty! wont start

Featured Replies

Its an Acura integra. He sprayed down the engine with the hose the other day. It was then running rough. He said he thought there might be water in the disty so I told him some WD-40 would fix his problem. I gues he sprayed it in the disrtibutor its self. Now it wont run. I didnt think it would cause problems. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Brian

I would have to check the properties of WD-40, but if it is conductive, then I would assume he fried the ignition modual in the disty. Or something to that effect.

WD-40 does displace water, but you should always check on stuff like that before you use it on electronics and make sure it is NON-CONDUCTIVE, otherwise it could be worse than water :dead:

ya for real. We just let it evaporate out, worked a lot better after that. Turned out his plugs were loose and really dirty.
