Speaker Replacement for Forester

Featured Replies

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading the front speakers in my 2000 Forester L. How simple is this upgrade ? I'm considering purchasing them from Crutchfield. I understand that the rear speakers are tough to find and also hard to do.

I have a 2001 S. The replacement was very easy, less than 30 min.

I got Kenwood 1677's for the front 2 years ago. They made a huge difference in the quality and volume. They were only about $20 on ebay. They fit perfectly without any kits or adjustments.

I changed the rears last year to Kenwood 1068S's. They did improve the sound a bit but not like the fronts.

As Crutchfield couldn't give me any recommendation on what speakers would fit the rear of my car, and wanted substantially more for the Infinity Kappas that I eventually bought, no I can't recommend them. eTronics as recommended by Alias had much better pricing on them, and they shipped fast.

A friend of mine whose wife has a '98 OB listened to them for two minutes, then referenced the same thread, bought them and installed them as well.
