Guest scoobtech
It looks like a carbon canister solenoid valve . Located on passenger side under intake runner . Am I right ?? What do I win .?? I didn't even have to phone a friend .
Guest ShawnW
I second that, use the part number stamped on it to identify it if possible.
Guest tcspeer
scoobtech, your right about the location, I broke the plactic end the vacum line hooks to when I was changing the temp. sending unit. I detailed the location, to the place I buy parts, but I never got the right one, and I didn't know the name of it. I even went to a Subaru dealer, took the part's man to my car and pointed it out to him and we could not tell on his computer which part it was. Now what is a carbon canstier solenoid and what does it do?
Guest tcspeer
Dave, it caused the ck. engine light to come on and I could feel sight surge when driving down road.
Guest camosuba
its called a purge solenoid and it controls the hydrocarbons from the cannister to the manifold to prevent emissions and comes up with the code 35? when it fails i have one thats a dud as well. But its on the drivers side in my car which is the right hand and correct side of the car when sitting in the car you guys drive on the wrong side of the road .
