September 2, 200916 yr I drove a '59 beetle for several years and had a blast. I had a lot of fun racing it. Due to overheating on 100+ degree summer days wore the motor out. so My car has been sitting for almost two years while I slowly made progress on my subaru EA81 engine swap. I picked this engine for the slight ower improvement, but mostly for simplicity and style. It looks very much like the original vw engines, especially after I fabricated my own intake manifols and adapters to use the VW generator and stand.
September 3, 200916 yr Nice work! We owned many VWs (karmann ghias, bugs, microbus, etc.) before we ever owned a Subaru. Loved them all. To me, my Brat is kind of like a japanese VW.... Good luck with the project!
