CaptainRon
I am having trouble with turning. Seems like the wheel does not want to return back to center. The steering pump seems fine with no leaks & the belt is pretty new. The weird part is with a full tank of gas the steering seems fine. Ball joints? Tires? ???? Any ideas???? ejlain
I would check the tires. All the same? Properly inflated? Good condition? Balanced? Also, check power steering fluid level. Start there and see if it's something minor. On the major side, I guess the steering rack might be a possibility. I am sure you'll get lots of other ideas from members here. Keep us posted. cookie
it on jackstands. Then I would try turning the wheels manually to see if there was play or a frozen ball joint. Then have a friend try turning the steering wheel while you inspect the action. If you don't find low air in the tires, low power steering fluid, or something rubbing or frozen have a more qualified person help you diagnose it. Chip
I had kind of the same problem and it turned out be the u-joint on the steering shaft. A couple shots of WD-40 and things were fine. The joint is about 1 ft in front of the firewall...in the engine compartement.
