joel_harris
hey ... 93 impreza L FWD ... my left CV joint has been shot for some time, major clicking and clacking when turning. haven't given it much thought as i heard you could drive like this for a while and that it was the clicking and clacking in a straight line that was to be feared. anyway, todaythe car started clicking and clacking while driving in a straight line. also, when letting off accelorator while still in gear, steering would swerve real bad from right to left. this swerving/jerking would correct a bit after reapplying torque to the drivetrain but would come back whenever i began to deccelerate again. this phenomenon occured after making a 100 mile trip; eventually and thankfully it seemed to correct itself (jerking/swerving steering) and i made it home althought the clicking while traveling straight still occurs. anyway, was wondering what this might be the precursor to. any similar experiences? thanks. .joel. subieman
Change that axle NOW! I had a similar experience with my legacy. Clicking in a straight line for about a month until one day it broke. I was on the freeway going about 70 when the CV finally failed, it ripped the steering wheel out of my hand and I went skidding across the freeway. Very scary!
