  1. hi . recently i noticed my clutch slipping in 5th gear, corrected itself when downshifting to 4th and hasn't happened since but has me a bit bugged. clutch burning smell and all that. anyway, was wondering if i might need to adjust the clutch cable and was looking for any simple instructions. currently, the clutch engages at the very bottom of the clutch depression path .. ie > closest to floor board. i've had this clutch in the car for exactly one year this month and drive relatively conservatively. any tips? .joel.
  2. hey ... 93 impreza L FWD ... my left CV joint has been shot for some time, major clicking and clacking when turning. haven't given it much thought as i heard you could drive like this for a while and that it was the clicking and clacking in a straight line that was to be feared. anyway, todaythe car started clicking and clacking while driving in a straight line. also, when letting off accelorator while still in gear, steering would swerve real bad from right to left. this swerving/jerking would correct a bit after reapplying torque to the drivetrain but would come back whenever i began to deccelerate again. this phenomenon occured after making a 100 mile trip; eventually and thankfully it seemed to correct itself (jerking/swerving steering) and i made it home althought the clicking while traveling straight still occurs. anyway, was wondering what this might be the precursor to. any similar experiences? thanks. .joel.
  3. > WELCOME, but for future reference, > this should be in the new generation forum oops. i'm new to subarus. thought the 93 was older generation! thanks for the tip. i'm pretty sure it's just the joint and not the axle; only clanks when turning. will try and do the work myself if so.
  4. hello .. my left CV joint on my 93 impreza L (FWD) is completely shot; car still drives but turning either way yields a real nasty cracking noise; have been driving like this for about 4 months. was wondering ... how long can you go before something major breaks or car becomes undriveable? also, what is the usual cost, parts/labor to replace a single side joint (not boot but entire mechanism?). any ideas as far as purchasing parts if i wanted to do the labor myself? thanks for any assistance.. .joel
