Compatability question and others...

Recommended Posts

O.K, so my poor '94 legacy gt, my old friend, is ailing, and i fear coming to the end of its days ( see my other posts about exhaust issues, o2 sensors, check engine light, etc) it has over 200,000 mi. on it (although i'm not sure due to driving for almost a year in a high milage sales job with the speedo/odom disconnected .)

Anyway, i need to prepare for the worst, and was looking for feedback on a couple of options...

1) '90 legacy, 4wd, 79k mi. manual $1300--for the price and the miles, i'm very tempted, i really just wan't something for ayear or two. no idea what it looks like. also, would a 90 be compatable part wise w/ my 94? having a parts car would be a big help.

2) '95 leg. LS wgn, PS PB AC SNRF alloys AWD 138k $2800, doesn't say manual or auto...would this be at all compatable with my 94, or did they change too much for 95?

3) looking into one of those used engines from japan, to put in the 94. where do i start? is there a web site? approximate costs for engine, swap, and probablly a new exhust?

As aleays, all feedback/advise is greatly appreciated.

thanks, jared (not from subway)

Yes parts will be compatible from 90-94, direct swap in.

95 LS was auto only I believe last year of LS 5 spd was 93.

Basically the same as your 94 changed dash, airbags, etc. But close for most parts. And still has same 2.2 engine.

I think one of the companies is called JDM. You might also look at ccr if you are going to go that route.

FWIW, JDM = Japanese Domestic Market... it's not a specific company, it means engines or parts or anything really that was originally intended for sale in Japan. Some Japanese engines can be almost impossible to install in US cars since they were set up for a car with the steering wheel on the right.
