Decided to change the oil in my 2002 Subaru Impreza Outback (2.5) today. Car has less than 30000 miles. When I crawled under the car I noticed a fair amout of what appeared to be oil on the suspension and exhaust. I hadn't looked under the hood in about 3 weeks. When I popped the hood I could see oil pooled around some of the valleys at the base of the intake manifold. Oil did not appear anywhere else except there and where it had dripped. I'm not sure where it would leak from as this is my first Subaru. The oil was quite black which was odd considering the oil in the engine was fairly clean. The dipstick still read full. You r knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks.

Um, maybe you could post some pics of it? That may help us somewhat. It could be a number of things, including someone spilling a bunch on the engine while adding oil or something. If you clean it up (degrease it) and then watch and see where it's coming from that may help also. Also, if it has less than 30000 miles, it should be under warranty and the dealer should cover it.
