my car will fire right up in the mornin, at 12 degrees...but after warming it up and driving it 20 miles, it doesnt want to restart...it does finally, but after 5 sec of cranking and my foot floored...any ideas?? its a carbed 1987 gl wagon

Sounds like a choke that's stuck. Next time, take off the air cleaner cover and prop the choke open (you can stick a screwdriver in there) and see if it fires right up.
