Scott in Bellingham Posted March 17, 2009 Share Posted March 17, 2009 As some of you know I run a EJ 2.2 in my wheeler with a weber carb and ford escort disty, well I want to build another one and am looking at my options for ignition, what other distys have beeen installed on the EJ engine or also I was wondering if there was a way to set up a electronic system without a disty something ltke the original ECU but simpler maybe utilizing the stock EJ coil pack and timing sensors , we are talking ignition only this would not be fuel injected, whats out there?? Legacy777 Posted March 17, 2009 Share Posted March 17, 2009 I think overseas there may have been a carb EJ series motor, but in the US there were no carb EJ series motors. If you could find something overseas, that may work. Regarding the electronic timing. You should be able to use the stock crank & cam sensors and tie that back to a stand alone ignition system to handle timing. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mellow65 Posted March 17, 2009 Share Posted March 17, 2009 i have heard of guys running a mega squirt stand alone ecu for timing alone. and they are cheapest stand alone ECUs that i have found.
