  1. 1990 Subaru Loyale has a low idle and when I was cleaning the TPS I noticed that when I moved the TPS connector harness around with the engine running the engine idle would go back to normal. There is a short in one of the wires. Any checks or idea of which wire it could be? I think the short is real close to the connector of the TPS.. Thanks, John
  2. I had a troulble code of 31 and checked out the throttle position sensor. I noticed that when I jiggled the wiring harness that the TPS would start working when the enginge was cold. Has anyone had a bad wire to the tps before and if so where exactly was the problem as these things seem to happen in the same place. 1990 Subauru Loyale 1.8L automatic
  3. Well, I have tried just about everything with the timing belts. Thanks for all the input. When the driver side cam belt is installed where would the the rotor be pointing when the flywhell is on the middle line without number?
  4. I checked the marks before and after tensioning. I am still looking for ideas. I just tried the do not turn crank trick and it stil is the same. Thanks
  5. I did not pull the distributor. I put it all back together once and thought that the timing had to be changed a little. I have put the belts on ten times already and started the car without any cover or water pump or alternator attached. It still backfires and has now power. I have to be doing something wrong!! Thanks for the replies.
  6. I had a broken timing belt and replaced both belts on a 1.8L Loyale. I put the flywheel on the middle of the three marks and one cam pulley at 12:00 and then I turned the engine 360 and installed the other belt. It is now running like it is out of time backfiring and hardly any power. The belts seem to be installed perfectly. I tried moving the distributor but it is still the same. Any ideas? Thanks John
