  1. Air Filter was replaced 10K ago. Its still very clean, just checked it.
  2. I changed the t-belt 4 months ago, drove 4000 mile road trip. put another 2000 miles here in portland. water pump went out. had to disassemble the t-belt assembly to replace the pump. when I took apart i didn't notice the tooth off. when I put back together I was extra sure that it was aligned. Its not idling funny or running rough. I think I threw away the old O2 sensor. I'll go buy an OE one. I replaced the coolant sensor about 2 years ago. I'll check the air filter. Thanks!
  3. My car was getting 20-24 miles per gallon before I moved out west. 4-5 months ago I changed my timing belt and O2 sensor. Around that same time my gas level gauge empty light started not coming on. I ran out of gas in Montana because I was only getting 12-14 mpg and wasn't expecting it. I purchased a Bosch O2 sensor from Autozone, probably a universal. The car passed Oregon emissions right away... When I start the car in the mornings the exhaust is very rich and cloudy, smells of gas. Also, when I plug in the green OBD1 connectors it makes a beeping buzzing noise and doesn't read out any codes. Any help would be mucho appreciated as always! If I was to get a Voltometer and try to test out the O2 sensor and the engine coolant temp sensor, how do I do that?
  4. Yes, if the proper way to do that is unplugging the battery for 30 seconds. (the batt was removed for 24 hours) If I do a D-check, would that fix it? D-check? how do I do a D-checK? K
  5. Ouch! Well, luckily all this cost me was 10.00 for the computer. I un-installed the stuff that didn't fix the problem and returned it. It also cost me about 20 hours of messing with it in 100+ degree memphis weather...
  6. a few days ago my car was telling me code 13 and 32- cam angle sensor and O2 sensor... Now that i've changed my timing belt... its just blinking steadily when I plug in the OBD1 system. The blinks are the same duration as the long blink indicating 10 second intervals. Just blinks forever. i looked in my manual and couldn't find why.. Any ideas?
  7. Since there aren't too many 90's legacy's around Memphis, there's a 90 wagon and 94 sedan at the local U-pull-it yard and i've been scavenging lots of small and big things such as: Seatbelt motor, track, and door latch(didn't fix the defunct pas. side seatbelt) Auto seatbelt computer(did fix that problem) Rear driver side tail light assembly timing belt cover (better condition than mine) crank shaft sensor (broke when I tried to pull it out of oil pump) rubber sleeve for fuel filter ball joint stock tape player from 90 model- had an aux. input for port cd player or my iPod (now I can rock the ipod with out tape or fm adapter and not prone to theft) bracket mounts for cover that goes over engine (rubber gaskets were shot on mine) I love junk yards...
  8. She's fixed!!! started up right away! Then it died. I forgot to hook up the big air hose that goes to the engine block. Purrs like a kitten.. I pulled the oil pump to check the notorious back plate screws that tend to come loose, they were tight. When I put it back in, I snapped two of the seven bolts... One came out in one piece(barely)- the other, was broken totally. Luckily part of the bolt was sticking 1/4 inch out of the block... used a vice grip to get it out... scared me a bit. napa sold me more bolts and i'm back in business!!! Thank for all your help! I really appreciate it! Kellen
  9. Ouch... I called 4 auto part stores and they quoted nothing less than 250 just for the tensioner/pulley kits... some including the belt. Only one parts place had it in stock... Whats the number to that place? Thanks for the information...
  10. I looked briefly for metal stuff, will look again when I do a final cleaning of inner case. I did remove about 15 teeth of the old timing belt... Should I use brake cleaner to clean inside? Theres a bunch of oily residue buildup in the timing belt case...
  11. My legacy is at 170k and I purchased at 130. 1993 There were no service records.. So I don't know if the transmission has ever been flushed. I'm hearing from some people that I shouldn't flush, that it can cause more problems than good. Some say do it... Others say just drain and fill, maybe a couple times to clear out the old stuff.. Some say to have a shop flush, but not using chemicals.. Thanks in advance for the advice. I love this website! Kellen
  12. I found why my timing belt broke... the geared Idler Pulley broke, stopped the engine dead. I wonder if it caused any internal damage? Those bearings look great eh?
  13. I feel kinda silly. But relieved and excited to get this up and running. I sat there trying to start the darn car over and over and over... I've definatly learned a lot. I really apreciate all your advice! K
  14. After reading articles by Endwrench and Motor mag all about changing Tbelts. I realized what I did wrong! On the Crankshaft pully sprocket there is an arrow and a notch. I used the arrow. Yeah! Any tips on holding the pulley in place while I torque the crankshaft bolt? There are a few special tools that I have no Idea where to get... on said to insert prybar through bellhousing into flywheel to lock engine... Would that work?
  15. What did the 200.00 include? Memphis, TN has a very low population of subarus, especially mid 90's... older than that are non-existent. There is on subaru dealer here in a town of 1 million. Plus I needed the parts yesterday. :0 Thanks for the tip, i'll be utilizing them next time.
