  1. I agree the stock VW tranny would allow you to stay VW style and have the correct rotation. Liquid cooled engines are better than old air cooled ones. The best place to put engine cooling (the radiator) is in the front. Run two steel tubes back to the engine then put hoses on. Feel good because the GT40 does this. Because I'm fairly well versed in engine performance (many years as a field sevice engineer) fell free to ask me! Lee If you want visit me on my site. www.trikerlee.com
  2. You need a complete wiring diagram for your engine. Haynes does a good job on the wiring diagram. Some manuels (Chilton) do not have diagrams. The haynes manuels also tells and shows all the plumbing. I have many years of experimental lab experiance on building stuff so if you need help say so. Lee You can if you want visit me on my website www.trikerlee.com
  3. Thanks for the pictures of the sand rails. Some people don't realize that the air cooled stuff is antique. Because I shifted many 12 and 14 speed trannys my right arm is not what it used to be. Go to my web site to look if you want too. www.trikerlee.com Lee
  4. Every day I go to my website (www.trikerlee.com) to see the messages and the for sale things. If you want to post some thing go there. Lee:)
  5. If you are looking for info on subaru trikes go to www.trikerlee.com . I've got pictures and all kinds of stuff. Who knows you might learn some thing! Have Fun:)
  6. Unfortunately that is not my RV8. I wish it was. I have built a couple of experimental aircraft to date but not a RV8. When you have an instrument rated com licence in your pocket you begin to think like me. Lee
  7. If your EA81 gets hot look at the ffollowig - Coolant Never use something with an insulating thing in it. Hard Water. I'm talking about calcium. Radiator Use as big as the factory used or bigger. Fan Follow what the factory did. When there is no fan surround high temps will result. Never change direction with out testing. Thermostat Whenever the thermostat is removed a very differant heat load will be put on the system. Wheel Don't try to reinvent the wheel! Lee at www.trikerlee.com
  8. What rear shocks are you using? Subaru engines work the best in trikes. I use a EA82 with an automatic from a 1986 wagon. The most popular engie is a VW but the weight on the rear is good for big wheelies. A liquid cooled engine is much better than an air cooled engine ( The VW ). There is many sites out there talking about VW trikes. You may see my site at www.trikerlee.com anytime you want. Lee
  9. I have many photos on my web site www.trikerlee.com so take a look. If you see some thing that i should have tell me! Lee
  10. Dear Dean 08:55 01-09-06 I'm sorry but I don't have a wiring diagram to give you. The worst manual is made by chilton. Haynes has a usable manual though. So you have a 1991 Loyale engine. An induction system using the fuel injection is good. Use the original computer. Fool it by supplying signals that keep it satisfied. Remember you need a signal to the computer wherever it was supplied by the car. Supplying signals ( your good book ) for 1 or 2 oxygen sensors is very easy. Assuming you don't have to meet emissions standards just use a resister to supply the voltage signal that you need. The starting battery has 14.6 volts charged up. That way the computer will think every thing is fine. I use two mufflers ( stock ) from a sportster. I bought these dirt cheap and brand new. Lee at www.trikerlee.com
