  1. The back rest may be a solution. Especially since Subaru does not recommend mods to the head restraint.
  2. That's a thought. I guess you would just go to a dealer and sit in a few to try them out and compare how it feels. At this point, I don't know what else to do.
  3. Welcome. With past vehicles we have owned, the Subaru IS the better car. That is the only way I can word it.
  4. Just got a reply back from Subaru of America's website. Here is their explanation: "The front seats of the 2006 Subaru models are equipped with active head restraints. They automatically tilt forward slightly in the event the vehicle is struck from the rear, decreasing the amount of rearward head movement and thus reducing the risk of whiplash. For maximum effectiveness, the head restraint should be adjusted so the center of the head restraint is closest to the top of the occupant's ears." Of course, they do not recommend mods of any type to the head restraint. For now, we just have to deal with it.
  5. The only thing we don't like is it seems the headrest on the 2006 Forester keeps our heads at a forward tilt, which makes long distance drive uncomfortable. Anyone else notice this, or just us, and can the headrest be manipulated to a different angle?
  6. Although it may be pricey, do it all, including seals and water pump. Seals are known to leak, and trust me, you only want to take it apart once.
  7. HAR HAR HAR:rolleyes:
  8. Just finished replacing evrything up front. Cost about $300.00. It is not an easy task, so plan on changing it all and only take it apart once.
  9. Just purchased an 06 Forester (only 1/2 mile on odometer). We were able to keep our 1998 Legacy because gas prices have forced me to park my work truck (2004 Ram 1500 HEMI). My wife of course gets the Forester, I get the Legacy, the driveway gets the Ram.
  10. We just purchased an 06 Forester. We went to Wal-Mart and bought a cheapo fm modulator (plugs into the factory antenna). I tapped into the wires behind "cig lighter" for the power source. It works pretty good. Need to turn volume up really high on the radio, but it works really good for what it is, and now we can once again travel with the I-Pod. I was perplexed that Subaru does not have inputs on their radios yet, but I e-mailed Subaru with this question and they did respond in one day. They said they will probably have something in 2007 for mp3 players.
