  1. He, he, he, I am not in position of correcting anyone here. I need clarification. Anyway, sorry about the missing information, my Legacy is an automatic.
  2. Thank you all for your input. Nipper: What do you mean by "...the other option is to get a turbo..."? Mine is already a turbo.
  3. Greetings: My car is 35% urban ad 65% highway. The NJ highway traffic speed on the passing lane is around 65~70mph. So I am force to keep a steady space most of the time. As a result, my 05 Legacy GT has a poor acceleration especially when I want to pass from 60 to 80mph in highway and from 30 to 60 in urban Ave. The "unlearn" method (disconnect Neg. battery and apply the brake at an almost empty tank before fill up...) and drive sportly (border of maniac) give back the Legacy its responsiveness for only a week or two max. However, it is impractical to do this at two weeks interval. So, is there way to keep a responsive acceleration at all time for your 05 Legacy 2.5GT? Advance thanks for your time and help.
  4. You are absolutely correct. However, it is really difficult to keep a light foot when you drive this car. Don't you think? My really concern is I will make another irreparable mistake by forgetting that I have 1/2 tank regular especially during rush hour going to work .
  5. I just went to two auto parts stores (R&S Strauss and Pepboys). Most of octane booster contains MMT which is not recommended based on the manual. I get all octane booster brand that doesn't specify MMT in its label. However, how can I be ascertain these products does not contain MMT. Any additional input is greatly appreciated.
  6. Thank you all for your valuable input and advices. For peace of mind, I will go to an autopart store tomorrow get some octane booster and fill up with the highest octane gazoline that I can find after emptying 1/2 tank. Do you think the ECU will accustom to this low octane gazoline permanently? If so, is there a way to reset it to factory default?
  7. Greetings: The pumpist might have some hearing problem while I am specifically asking for fill up Super; he puts regular in my 05 2.5GT tank instead. By the time I realize the mistake, it's almost 1/2 tank (7.5 galons) already and fill up the remaining tank with Super. I wonder if there will be any serious consequence to this error. Thanks in advance for your time and help.
  8. Do I dare to give out the store name? I give you a hint it starts with an R... and bear the last name of a very famous Vienna classical conductor.
  9. Thank you all for your additional info and advice. FYI, I did ask the store manager and he has no clues why he can't find the SL grade in dino oil. SL may be stand for Synthetic lube, I've been told.
  10. Greetings: My new 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT Power stirring fluid level was below the Cold Min mark. While trying to fill it up with Dexron III, my hand just slip and I overfill a bit higher than Cold MAX mark. I don't think this is going to be a big issue, isn't it? Any additional comment is greatly appreciated.
  11. Greetings: I went to a local autopart store and I am unable to find 5W30 API Service SL or SJ - GF3 dino oil as Subaru user's manual recommended. All dino oil bear the SM API service. Is there any correlation between SL and synthetic, since I've seen most of Synthetic oil bear the SL API service. However, based on my research from different Subaru forum, it is not wise to change to synthetic earlier than 9000 miles. The winter in NJ is kinda cold and I am wondering if it is safe to change to Synthetic at 3000 miles service or do I have to live with dino oil until 6000 miles at least. Any additional suggestion and comment is greatly appreciated.
  12. Thank you all for your advice and suggestion. For members who mount the ASX, does it have a quieter ride that the stock RE92? I am located in Northern NJ which has many snow storm in the last two years. Regardless of the thread wear, I change my tire every two years or as soon as the car start to slip or the tail start to slide on a couple inches of fresh snow. So I think I am going to get the ASX for this time being. By the way, I live in an appartment; so having another set of 4 rim and tires is not a suitable option.
  13. Greetings: After shopping online for several days at Discounttiredirect, Tirerack and Tiresaving, I am still hesitating between these 3 brandnames. Beside Bridgestone, I never heard of the other two. Surpprisingly, none of these web-sites suggest Michelin. Are Michelin really that bad? Kumho ECSTA ASX ~$435 Avon Tech M550 A/S ~$502 Bridgestone Potenza G009 ~$569 All price reflects S/H & Road Hazard My criteria are Quiet/smooth ride, Good or Excellent traction on snow and wet road and if possible speed on dry pavement. Any additinal comment and suggestion is greatly appreciated.
