  1. I live on an island (lots of salty air and corrosion) and as a rule change mine every year or so, no matter the mileage...which is usually under 7,000 miles!
  2. wow. always the simple things, isn't it? thanks so much for the tip. i had no idea how easy it was to pop out the interior. now i just have to find a replacement antenna that will fit without drilling a big ol' hole in my car...back to internet shopping. thanks again!
  3. In the midst of replacing my stereo, I realized my antenna was shot. Does anyone have any pointers on how to remove the old antenna from the car? Do I have to break the assembly? In this model (1991 loyale), the antenna is mounted on the driver's side by the upper corner of the windshield. The assembly is rectangular and I can't (after lots of prying) seem to remove it. I am hoping the coax cable is under there somewhere, but can't see it yet. Of course, it wouldn't be so easy as to screw out or anything. My poor little subie. What's left of the antenna assembly is now temporarily duck taped to the side of the car as I eagerly await any helpful suggestions. Thanks!
  4. Wow! My subie and I thank you for all the suggestions! I'll give 'em a try and post again soon to let you all know what worked.
  5. A poorly-placed latte' killed my factory stereo on my 1991 subaru LOYALE wagon (took a corner too fast and the latte' spilled into the vents, down onto the stereo). I installed an aftermarket stereo using a wiring harness. However, HOW in the HECK do you install the antenna? I attached a "male" end (which my new stereo requires) to the coax. cable, but there is no room for anything behind the stereo itself (the heater unit limits the space), and the stereo now sticks out about 2 inches from the console. AND! the speakers worked great for about 2 days...but something has gone terribly wrong...now I get very little volume (even cranked up), and if I try to turn it up too far, I get nothing at all. Obviously a voltage and/or speaker wiring problem. Any suggestions for the antenna or the speakers? I know there have been several posts regarding this subject, but after spending an hour clicking through pages of posts, I decided to try my luck at posting again. If you can refer me to a previous post (date) that would be superb. Thanks so much.
