  1. I like felpro too.... I think im going to have to do this and may be twice.... do you have a blowup/procedure to remove the intake for this engine? Looks like I remove the plenem (spelling?) and under it is the intake and all the injectors....it looks like you can pretty much pop out the center... w/o removing the injectors... What ya think? Robert
  2. Turns out its a leaking intake that GM was to have fixxed sometime ago. This is really a job I dont want to do.... But just in case... Does anyone have the low down on removing the intake off a chevy 3100 engine for this 1996 lumina? I doubt I can screw it up much more then GM has already. Thanks Robert
  3. My Dad asked me to bleed the brakes again today. I think there was just a hint of air in the ABS Modual. None that I could see at the slaves. But this made both my folks happy.... My Dad is my Mom's world.... Meanwhile.... this car seems to need a fan... got maybe 2 coolant leaks and has a bad sensor (coolent level). Can you say Freeze out plug? Ick. Robert
  4. All Done and it really diddnt take that long. The link was a must... w/o the computer dongle to tell the abs modual to use the back brakes it could have taken a while to figure out that all you had to do was drive back and forth a bit. I would have figured it out but the link was a big help. So My Dad is very happy.... And I learned a bit about ABS... early GM abs anyway. Thanks for the help! Robert
  5. Got the master changed but dont really understand the ABS stuff. I pretty much took it apart and put back together like it said. Started to bleed it and then the leak made itself known.... about the center of the car to the passenger side rear wheel. I examined the line myself.... and it fell apart in my hand. Told my Dad what to get and I should finish it on sunday, Should be an easy 90Degree bend to the slave.... Gave this the part of the old line to match it up. Robert
  6. I dont like haynes.... never seems to go into detail and in this case... maybe even incorrect. Robert
  7. Good Page. Also reminds me that we tried to bleed the master/abs mod... Only one would bleed and the other had no pressure. But I think we are back to the master again. There are 2 bleeders on the ABS Mod. Robert
  8. To Tell you the truth I was so shocked at the drivers front not having any pressure.... I just figured the master has a blowed O-ring... The Haynes book says dont take it apart.... but it looks fairly simply... 2 connections and I think.. 2 bolts to the master.... the master itself has 2 bolts to the vac assist. I just dont want to take it apart and have to tow it to get it finished... Sigh Robert
  9. Im inclined to agree.... but my real problem is that the ABS mod is bolted to the master and im not sure its safe to remove it. All the brake lines go into the ABS Mod.... Also... no brake pressure on the driver side.... never seen this one before... but It could be either part. thanks Robert
  10. I dont know anything about ABS.... but the master on my Dad's lumina seems to have suddenly gone empty. Filled it up and pushed and pushed and repushed but we cant find any leaks. I tried to bleed it.... the front passenger side was on... no air but at least I had fluid. The other side diddnt even make any pressure ... no air no fluid nothing. My First guess was the master but then this thing has a ABS modulator connected to the master and at this point I told Dad im just not qualified to diagnose this one. Haynes says not to seperate the abs mod from the master... but I dont know... Any Ideas? Thus far his mech isnt returning our calls and its not really safe to drive... but that old man has a major stubborn streak. Will the Abs mod go right back on the new master? The book says something about special tools... but the new master dosent look that complicated. Thanks Robert
  11. Hi If you read anything in the main off topic area you may have seen that Im trying to hold my honda together until I get my check and can go shopping for a slightly Used subaru. I have been been keeping an eye out on a few noises. There was one I couldnt quite figure out. Mostly my fault because I diddnt get it sooner... But the Noise that I thought might have been a wheel bearing on the way out turned out to be the outter tie rod end on the driver side. 33$ and this car is taking my money and my flesh a bit at a time. At any rate... near as I can tell there wasnt any grease on either of the outer tie rod ends... 8 oil chances and no grease. Damm! The dammage was unreal. At first glance the rod seemed a bit loose but ok. I knew it was shot because it failed under load. I grasped the base of the shaft and pushed it over and under a bit of pressure it moved nearly 1/8 of an inch. No wonder the car was getting so hard to steer. But this turned out to be one of the best 10 min repairs I have ever done Robert
  12. Hey , Ya had the place remodeled The Honda is still here but its becoming like my GF (a bit high maint). The Muffler fell off a while ago.... and Im thinking about tires and brakes. I think I may have a bad injector. In spite of a full tune and a new coil and good gas and gum out... It still spits sometimes... but never when the engine is still cold. The car is no good on unplowed streets! , Even my old subie was better. Hope you are all well Robert
  13. After all this time I had to come visit. I still miss my subie though. Robert
  14. The people here are so nice.... but the people at the honda forum were so rude and jumped me.... when I reacted in part they banned me. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2071930&page=1 Im ddg2sailor over there..... tell me , Am I real? Robert
  15. Thanks for the kind reply's. My Honda is ok... its just not a subaru Robert
  16. Hi Guys My Honda is treating me fairly well and I shouldn't be too surprised that there is a community for Honda's very much like here. The people there seem to know a great deal but it has an unbalanced amount of children with hot rod's making it less friendly then here. When I first looked under the hood of this 93 accord I asked myself how I could ever work on this if it broke. Its so much more complicated then Bessy was. But it did break and with a bit of help from Google and some from the Honda forum I was able to diagnose and replace a bad efi main relay. Which by the way is under the dash by the steering column , a place I never would have found because its under the cruise control module. I still miss my old Subaru... too bad she was just too far gone to get through inspection. I hope you are all well. Robert
  17. That was what I got when I junked it... 5$ per 100 pounds
  18. This thread has gone a bit off topic.... for those who have been wondering. My Honda is doing pretty well. Not to say it dosent play a trick on me now and then. Like getting stuck in 4th Gear Electronic tranni , diddnt know all i had to do was turn off the key. Robert
  19. Its been almost 2 weeks now. The Honda is turning out to be a fairly dependable car if somewhat unexciting. I guess you cant have everything Robert
  20. There is a certain something to the gl wagons. When it was running well it was a real power house... and it holds the road so nicely. But in truth I only got the car cause my brother was going to scrap it anyway.... and I got most of a year out of it... and in some cases nearly daily repairs. Look on the bright side I cant unlearn what I have learned with this subie... I managed to adjust the clutch with breaking the cable... mostly due to some help from the nice people in here.... and when I did the fron wheel bearings it was after someone in here told me they were more like the older front wheel bearings then the new pressed in ones.. Cant say if Il ever own another Subie... but it was an expirience and a 1/2. Sorry folks My New 93 honda is in pretty fair shape and while it isnt a subaru it will get me around and it gets 27 mpg in the city , that alone saves me a lot of cash over the 20 or 19 mpg on my subie.... But I doubt that Im ever gonna get the feel that the gl wagon gave me in heavy rain or snow.... it was just unstoppable. I dont plan on totaly disapearing... just not sure exactly what i can contribute as everyone knows more then I ya know.... counting the 3 years my brother owned this car... I have been working on it for 4 years. If it hadnt become unfeasable I would have liked it for the upcomming winter... but anyone who reads my threads knows how severly and quickly it suddenly went down. Robert
  21. Today circumstance forced to be scap my Subaru. In the final cut we were done in by a sensor (o2 or coolant)... Subie gave me a nice going away present... 133$. But it still wasnt easy to scrap her. For all her faults and resently her most recent cel episodes I always felt safe in this car... even though she broke down on me 11 or 12 times... odd that feeling... I diddnt have any choice about the scrapping.... The sticker was almost expired and it couldnt pass inspection... and at 150$ a pop for failure to inspect I diddnt really have any choice. As for USMB I have found a lot of aid and comfort here. I even expect I made a few friends. I would like to extend a heart felt thankyou to all the gang at USMB , I couldnt have kept this car running so long without you.. that is every single one of you that has advised me along the way. Regards Robert
  22. It looks as if this car has pretty much had it.... and with a bit of luck it will be replaced tomorrow. The people here have been extremely helpful and Im not sure what I could have done to this car to keep it running as long as I have without your help. Thanks USMB! Robert
