I am replacing the water pump, idlers and timing belt on my moms 02 Outback, but I made the mistake of not setting everything at zero before removing the belt and I can't seem to get it all lined up now. Any help in a hurry would be greatly appreciated.

Are you iusing the correct fluid. Dex/Merc ATF? if you put regular *power steering* fluid in it, the clear stuff, it will make them leak and whine terribly
Yes, it has dex/merc in it.

Instead of my retyping it all, please just go and read this thread:

Hey,
Thanks for the advice. I'm pretty much out on this car because the guy never got back to me, so I won't need any more info on the SVX for the time being. Thank you.
Come over and have a look anyway, we do have a few for sale on my forums and I'm not far from the lakes myself.

Small update:
The rest of my nitrous system has arrived and I now just need a purge system. I also will have my heads and my motor over here soon to start work on them but all the upper intake and so on is done in terms of porting and polishing.

As most of them already said, it's a great car. Very safe, very reliable. You just need to keep the tranny fluid clean and cool, upgrade the brakes and your pretty much set.
Come over and join us sometime if you want some more SVX specific info. at www.svxworldforums.com.

I'd personally avoid starting with a dry shot. Why not just start with a wet shot system and small jets? Dry is just asking for trouble. You don't need a stand alone to run a wet system.
The dry is because it was cheap and available on ebay. I'll convert it to wet next December.
If I want to make maximum power and not blow up my motor on the big shot that I am planning on, I need a stand alone as the factory ECU can only handle about an 80 shot before bad things start happening due to the amount of advance the EG33 runs.

Thought you were running the stock SVX tranny. Would love to see some videos when you get that thing going.
I'll make sure to make some no doubt about it.

hello good to see people from ohio , not sure where you live ? i am in western ohio,
I'm in eastern Ohio right at the WV. border.

My SVX has a 97 Legacy outback transmission and rear diff and gives me a 4.444 gear ratio over the stockers 3.545. They are capable of taking more than the old stock tranny and I plan to beef mine up anyway with parts from level10 when I get ready to go stand alone and wet system.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.
I'm not too worried about blowing it up or breaking anything as I plan to start very slowly and work my way up gently. I will also have all the proper instrumentation to keep my eyes on pressures and mixtures before I go too much beyond a small dry shot.

I have begun an EG33 build that I will be shooting nitrous into in hopes of hitting the 12's in this heavy machine. I have ported and polished the intake and will begin work on the heads and headers soon. I also plan for WRX valves, springs and retainers.
I am starting with a dry system for now and running a 75 shot, but next december i will upgrade to a wet system and a stand alone and try working my way to a 200 shot.
I will keep this updated as it goes.

Hello to you all, I haven't been on in a LONG time. My name is Jason, A.K.A. budfreak of the SVX world forums. I live in Toronto, Ohio and I own 6 SVX's and 1 Legacy and have been into Subaru's for well over 4 years now and I run my own business dealing exclusively with the SVX. I do mechanical repair work and also sell used and new parts.
I look forward to future posts on this board, starting with one outlining my EG33 nitrous build that I am in the middle of.
