HI there,
I have a 97 2.5 GT sedan. I bought the car and it had some oil leaks burning on the exhaust, and was due for some maintenance, so I just pulled the motor and did an overhaul. I adjusted the valves by replacing the shims, replaced timing belt and all new idler pullies, water pump, re-sealed the oil pump, new font main seal, cam seals, oil seperator plate, new front o2 sensor, PCV valve, fuel filter, NGK lazer Iridium plugs, NGK wires, belts, fluids, ect.
Before the overhaul, I had this vibration at 2000 rpm's that would smooth out at about 2600 and higher. The motor shakes a bit at idle, and will vibrate a little around 1500, and shakes the worst around 2000, and then smooths out. I thought this would be fixed after the tune up and overhaul was complete, but here I am with the motor back in and running, and still have the vibration. The car runs good, and I don't really notice it when I'm driving the car, but it drives me nuts.
My question is if this is a common thing with the Phase I DOHC boxer engine, and I'm just being anal or what? I really think it shouldn't have this shaking vibration, but then again this is my first Subaru. Is there anything I should check, or am I missing something on the tune up? Any help or info would be a big help!
Thank you! (These cars rock!)
