I had a quick Thanksgiving question. We drove from TN out to TX and noticed a few things on the way. We had some steering wheel shake at different speeds. Stopped and balanced the tires. Most of the shake is gone now. But now I noticed if I'm moving along about 70-75mph, and step on the gas there is a vibration. the vibration starts as soon as I step on the gas, even before the speed increases. So it doesn't seem like it's the wheels. I feel it in the wheel a little, as well as in the seat...as in the whole car. It doesn't shake everything loose, but it's there. Anyone have ideas? Need more info? Thanks for the help. b.f.

I changed the air filter in our car last night. It was the first time since we got the car. I guess I should have done it sooner, but at least I did it now. I was surprised to see quite a bit of dirt on the "inhale" side of the filter (windshield side), and even a little on the intake side. I cleaned them out as best as I could. The dirt was oily (but not blowby oily.. almost like K&N oil oily...but the filter was not K&N, nor was the filter oily), and harder to get out than I expected. Just a few questions about it... 1. Is that normal? 2. Should I NOT have cleaned it out (maybe I loosened up something that was stuck before) 3. How often should I check for that? here are a few photos: (that's the OLD filter, air goes right to left (if it were standing up)

Hi folks. Often in the morning, if I let my wagon idle, there is a scraping, rubbing metal sound in time with RPMs. It makes my petrol car sound like a diesel. If I step on the gas, and step up the RPMs, the grinding goes away, and all sounds normal. After arriving at work (a 20min drive) i can idle, and there is no grinding. Some mornings, it's not there. Others it is. I can't tell it it's temperature related or not. I added some Rislone to the oil (as per my mechanic friends suggestion) and it didn't seem to help. Anything sound familiar about this? It's a 2000 OBW, 150K miles. Timing belts and water pump changed a little after 110K Thanks Bryan

I figure another option we have is to set up a series of large rubber bands at specific points in my commute to work. The first one would be out of our driveway. Next would be after the railroad tracks turning right. Then about 2 miles later when there is a dotted middle line. The only problem will be preloading them, and attaching them to a moving car... hmm. any ideas? Bryan =)

Hi gents, I'm needing a hitch for my 2000 OBW, and all the ones I have found have a 1.25in receiver. Is there any that are sold that are larger? I'm not sure that the 1/25in size will be good for what i'm doing.http://webpages.charter.net/steadicamoperator/steadicamequipment_files/vehicmalibu.jpg Thanks!

Recently, my drivers side window had problems rolling up. (power window) I would hold the switch up, and it would take 2-4 sec before moving, then would finish going up as normal. Then, it didn't go up at all. We took apart the door, fiddled with some things, and it went up again. But I don't think we fixed it. I can't afford a new switch cluster, so I'm looking at places like carpart.com and other sites for used ones. is there a part number, or "name" that I can look for so I don't get the wrong part? thanks. oh... 2000 OBW 140k

Hi, I was looking under my '00 OBW, and noticed a hole where it looked like a bolt should be. my two questions are; 1. What is(was) this bolt holding on? (I'm able to pull the cover its holding out about 3/4 in) 2. Should I be worried that it's missing, and exposing the innards to the elements? thanks Oh, that's the oil filter on the left... looking from the front of the wagon. And yes, that's a ziptie holding it on...it was all i had at the moment.

So, I've ordered what I "thought" was the right part. Twice. I got two different part numbers, on two of the same things. 20410AC020 and 20401A(E)08A where E might be B, but the sticker is damaged. the parts are identical, and both about 3-4 inches short of being the right length for our OBW I even gave the dealer the VIN last time we spoke. Does anyone know the RIGHT part number, or maybe have one I can buy from them? in the same note, anyone want two swaybars for...heck.. i don't know what Subaru they are for... but they are genuine subaru parts. =) thanks

Ok, I was able to get the part number from the new front struts. KYB 334275 (i think that was all of the number) I'm not sure if those are GR2 or not. I called a couple KYB dealers, but they were not very...uh...yeah...well... that's why i'm asking here on the forum. =) Any reccomendations for a dealer? Thanks again

We need to replace our rear struts on our (recently purchased) 2000 OBW with 131K on it. the front struts were recently replaced, but It was before our purchase, and I'm not sure of the kind, or specs. I can get stock struts, but I'd think this would be a nice time for an upgrade...depending on the cost. Every now and then will be using this for hauling camera equipment, but that will weigh only 200-300 lbs at the most. And maybe once a month? So most of the time the rear will be empty. We don't live near the snow (i wish we did) and 99% of the time it's on pavement / concrete. Any adivce? I've searched the forum some, but it's hard to know what shocks work with which year Subs. thanks again!

Thanks! I thought about splicing the 12v in line with the Belkin adapter, but it also has a small amp in it, as well as the line out for the ipod. So i figured it was easier to just let it stay there. but I did consider putting the Power Outlet in the center armrest console, so it wouldn't be poking out there, but I didn't have a cover for for the hole where it is now.

If you've seen a couple of my other posts this loosly ties in with them. I wanted a more elegant solution for my ipod than just tossing it in a cup holder. I know there a lot of iPod options with FM and hacking into the back of your radio, but this seemed easy enough, and didn't cost me anything extra. First I had to notch a bit into the power outlet cover. I figured I could get another one if I stuffed it up. I removed the center cowling, routed the wires for the belkin autocharger and the tape adapter up to the front. Once I got to the front, the tape adapter cord went behind the trim, and came out to the right of the tape deck. The belkin came to the left, and out behind the coin tray thingy (behind the shifter) then connected to the iPod. To mount it, I used my Belkin Tunedok (nifty holder) and cut the cupholder thing that comes with it. I messed up a tad with the cut, and it was a little loose. but I "shimmed" it up with the peices I cut off, and now it's pretty sturdy, yet removeable. Since the power to the power outlet is cut when the key is off, I don't have to pause my music / book when I shut the car off. I do have to start the music again though. No prob. I chould have used the power adapter at the front, but I would have had a lot of cables to manage, and this seem a little better. Here are a few photos You can see kinda how the tape adapter is routed.

Pictures are worth a lot. so here we go I removed the couling in the center, and found this little junction box. It's got 4 wires coming to it, plus one that doesn't...read on. Red1: Blue junction box to Outlet Red2: Blue box to ? Thin Black: Blue box to Grounding screw Thick Black: Grounding screw to outlet Green: Blue Box to ? I found the fuse labeled Power Outlet / Heated Seats, checked it, and it's not blown. With my multimeter, I checked several different options with the Blue Box, and none had any voltage to them. Red and Green, Red and black. red and my nose... nothing I unpluged the blue Box, and heard a thump. I thought i blew a fuse, but after checking, it was fine. Plugged the blue box back in, heard same thump. Figured out it was comming from the speakers. With the radio off, no thump. So i'm wondering where do I go from here? What info would help more? Thanks Oh, what's the blue box, and the thing it's plugging into. a relay? if it is, i wonder how to turn it on?

Well, I'm pretty sure there is no power getting to the outlet ends of the wires. No sparks, no lights, no love. I'm trying to avoid tracing these wires (the ends that are connected to the additional outlet) to where ever they connect. If someone can tell me where they are supposed to end up, I can check to see if they are in fact ending up there. Thanks
