  1. I was underneith the glovebox portion of the dash.... right where it meets the center console... noticed there are some wires with green harness clips that are NOT connected from factory.??? Not part of the harness to the ECM just kinda off on their own. I connected them.. (seemed like a good idea at the time?) Started the car and immediately got an engine light. Error code read (Clutch actuator Low voltage) Key off.... I unplugged the green clips... car is fine again. Does anyone know what these magical green clips do? I have a few guesses but would love some other opinions.
  2. I'm big on taking the time to make what I want... so if the right pod isn't out there, I will fab something up. I'd really like to see 2 banks of gauges on the dash right behind the steering wheel... getting closer together as you get further toward the windshield.. (following the natural hump above the factory cluster) Can't find anything like that.. so.. I guess I'll try to make one??? We'll see. I hate to turn out to be one of those all talk no go types... so no promises yet.. just pretty visions bouncing in my head.
  3. The perfect answer is.... "it depends." It depends on the track you run! that being said.... I would start out by leaving the auto-trans in 2nd. if there is a turn that absoluely requires you to go back down to 1st plan accordingly on your second run. with the AWD on your side you will likely find yourself foot-to-floor threw most of the course with the lateral G's slowing you up enough to stay on track. The AWD can hold most any situation a 2.5 litre can create at auto-x limited speeds... super sticky tires help though! If you get serious into it pick up some Eagle F1 GS D3's or some Dunlop SP sports ( DOT ok'd drag radials. )
  4. Thanks for the advice Ranger83... I have read tons of posts about this issue, but it seems no one has a cure all solution for it. lots of things help but no one really knows the cause. I'm just that way... I wanna know!!! I'll get an account there though. Nice folks there too. johnceggleston.... The LCD device is an interesting option. This will be the first boxer engine I work on, so we'll see if it comes to that. Trend analysis is big for me, so I will want something with data-logging ability. I'll keep plugging away at it! Thanks for the replies. I know I haven't contributed much to this site since I got an account... just haven't had anything interesting to toss out there. Wait for warmer weather (and my garage to be set up) and you won't be able to shut me up! Thanks again, hyteck9
  5. I have a spec.b which, as noted in earlier posts, has the dreaded Legacy GT stutter when accelerating when the engine is still cold.:-\ I have decided I want more information!!! to investigate this problem starting in the form of gauges. boost fuel preasure fuel/mix EGT I'd also wouldn't mind having an oil preasure gauge and a knock sensor light mounted someplace. So I have 2 questions to toss out there... 1. what products can help me mount all these gauges in a nice clean fassion... so far I can only come up with an "A piller/Perrin steering column" combo. 2. Where is the best place to tap in /run the leads for all these gauges? Just trying to save some time and pain if you folks know a good place in the firewall to sneak threw.. or an accessable place to hook a particular gauge into. My garage isn't quite finished yet so I haven't really had the chance to get into the guts of the car yet... Thanks, Hyteck9
  6. Hi again... FYI... I always use 93 octane.... and the problem only happens when accelerating "lightly" or "moderately". If I gun it.... seems pretty smooth. Wouldn't the knock sensor only trip under WOT?? hmmm.. well.. maybe not I guess. the fuel map for WOT might be the only thing that is correct... hmm... I'll definately go for the oil change and see if that helps. (Does everyone like mobil1 here?) Otherwise I'll just wait for the cobb tuner and street software to investigate further.
  7. Thanks Keith, I'll read up on the GT site. There is a subaru shop near by so I can take it to get reflashed no problem. NOTE: i'm planning on getting a COBB tuner, will that resolve the issue as well? Or do you think I should get the dealer flash first...
  8. Greetings all, I have had my 06' spec.b for a bit over a month... alittle over 1,000 miles.... and I have a concern. It "feels" like the car is "confused" between 2,500 and 3,100 RPMS. to better explain: light to normal acceleration is not smooth in that rpm range... it is not choppy like a misfire... It just flutters, or pulses.... and its more noticable when the car is cold. At first I thought the clutch was slipping..? But then I thought this feels more like an engine breathing problem.... like a "sticky turbo" that won't spool up smoothly unless you hammer the gas. (perhaps a waste-gate that won't close?) Anyway, I'm new to scoobies so I'm open to comments. Are there other Legacy GT owners who know what I'm talking about or is it just me? thanks, hyteck9
  9. Thanks for the greets everyone. ricochet--- You recommendations sound like a great place to start! I do like the suspension on the spec.B so I will focus on the drivetrain for now. I LOVE the way the car handles. subeman90--- Nice to meet you. The NAV system in the spec.b had the wrong region settings so when I put in my akron OH address it looked for it in Akron PA!! small world. The car is #478 coylethebarbarian--- I will check out the mag as you are already the 2nd to mention it!! Thanks to all !!!!
  10. Hi there folks, Just got a 2006 spec.b and wanted to introduce myself. Its my 25th car (I buy and sell often) and I love to mod and tune but this is my first subaru. I'd love to talk with some knowledgeable folks about the differences between the 2.5 boxer in my GT spec.b and the 2.5 in the STi and of course how to get A GREAT DEAL more performance out of my car. Does the STi just have a bigger turbo and perhaps a higher comp. ratio? Are the internals more rubust in the sti? Anyway.. before I get too wrapped up in questions... I just wanted to say hi and a special hello to all those in the Northern Ohio area! Thanks, hyteck9
