  1. I have a 2000 legacy with the 2.5 in it. well shes tired and leaking oil and burning oil like SOB. So its time for a refresh. Reading a ton about the JDM na 2.0 sohc. I dont care about losing the power and low end, whatever Its slow a car anyway. So I hear a ton of mixed incidents. GOOD BAD AND NIGHTMARE. From what im getting is that you have to swap all the gears under the timing cover and the intake manifold off the ej25 and swap it on the 2.0 and it should run just fine with 0 codes being thrown. I Have to take emissions cant be fighting codes. Then i hear that with that sohc 2.0 you want to change the head gaskets immediately and now that the timing belt is off you might as well get a new timing belt kit. So now im at 800$ plus tax for the engine. 150. on the head gasket plus time. 200 for a decent quality timing belt kit. might as well since its open and accessible. So now im at shoot 12 1300$. . are parts easily available for this engine? is it worth the headache?

So then i found a couple low mile jdm 2.5s. 1400$ and some up to 2000$ my main question would be after all this rambling would my ecu run a jdm 2.5 if i decide to go the faster route? im more wanting to spend a little extra for a faster foolproof engine swap. I dont want to open engines and spend all the time. THis is my daily i want to be back on the road As fast as possible. thanks for reading this ramble! maybe even send me a link to something that can help

    thanks

  2. 87 hatch , oem fuel pump went bad, upon changing this, noticed the hard lines were rotted out and nasty, changed them to all fuel linesinstead of metal line,, I installed a out of package fuel pump from shucks, since mine is out of tank which is kind of nice. That one lasted about 6 months, Installed another one from somewhere else , It just died after 4 months.. What the heck, stock fuel pump went over 220,000 these ones last 5k tops. Any idead for a good universal pump ,that wont break the bank?

  3. Yes I've tried three batterys and yes I have volt meter that's hiw I know I was only getting 12 volt charge. And yes my oil lamp and battery lamp come in when my ignition is on. I have by passed my igntion for push button start like 8 years ago. Never had a priblem with charge. I have to plug my car into a plug in the back of the column. I've went through all the wires and soldered them for longevity. So baffling. Terminals tight all wires into the terminal tight. My car doesnt have voltage regulator or anything.... . . . . Dangit

  4. I have a 87 hatch, I'm havingb issues with my charging I'm only getting 12.3volts. I've checked and went through all my grounds and tried two different alternators and batterys. That I know are good. And the other issue all my dash lights stay on . Egr stomp lamp parking break brake fluid etc. This happened by itself . I parked the car for 6 months and then fired it up

  5. im not sure that the heads are the same size. I think the ea82 is a bit wider. better off Going. to the uffler shop have them Fab You up some. I bought two pairs of equal length. headers. took away the nice Subaru rumble and gave me mile or two more a gallon. and way better response. worth it

  6. OK so I got my battery light and all warnings to go off. I ran the multimeter. only pulling 12.70 volts to the battery . i tried both my alternators which I know both are good. . then plugged my ignition in and went to start up again. WOW. what do You know no power tobthe ignition all accessories. work. opened the fusable link box the middle red one is fried. burnt in half. would this cause the power to not flow right? I think it happened when I forgot to disconnect. the battery when I started. taking the alternator off I made some sparks. :(.what do I do next. how can I find where the power is draining. im starting to get upset. since the car had no problem When I parked it besides bad gas.

  7. Ok first off. Cougar. When i pull ignition fuse the whole car shuts down i was talking about the charge fuse. Second all warning lights are now off. It was a faulty crimp job on my part at the back of the alternator. Now the battery lights and warning lights are all off. But the headlights dont get brigjter with revs. Which makes me a little suspicios. But it says it charging. According to the dash. Lol. Thanks for the help. Im still gping to run the circut tester to be sure. Thanks fellas
