So i have a CEL related to the EGR valve having a bad flow...I am almost certain that it is just clogged up... Can someone with a good referance offer a procedure to clean this thing out. I am really getting sick of seeing the CEL everywhere i go...Thanks in advance.

No, i have never replace spark plugs before or plug wires. I just replaced my knock sensor last night and am feeling confident about the plugs. i just want a step by step guide...ASSUME I KNOW NOTHING, if that helps. but good info so far....

i have a 97 OBW and need a DIY to change my plugs and wires... Can anyone point me in the direction of a resource. TIA

My 97 obw had a slight temperature problem, really just a fluctuation in the temp gauge upon strenuous driving, i.e. start and stop, up hills, etc. There are usually just three reasons for this: 1. The worst case: head gasket is blown 2. Not as bad: the coolant clumps in the radiator, solved by replacing the radiator and coolant 3. The thermostat is bad I replaced the radiator and hoses and the temp sender and all is well. You know its the head gasket if the coolant smells like exhaust, just open the radiator cap when it is COOL, and smell the coolant.

Hello everyone, i am new to this forum and a new subaru owner. i have a 97 subaru outback wagon. it is, of course, used and i am performing pretty much all the maintenace since i dont have records on the car. I have already replaced the radiator, all the fluids, and the transmission mount. I still need to do the timing, the spark plugs, and the knock sensor. To my question: can someone help me locate the knock sensor; I am fairly certain that the change procedure is easy and since it will cost around a $100 to have someone do this for me, I think i will give it a try. Any information will be helpful. TIA.
