ive kinda searched around the forums for this.. just wanna make sure its compatble..
have an 86 gl10 turbo sedan, and i put LARGE tires on it with no lift, and now for some WERID :^) reaswith a manual and push button 4x4 on the gearing is way too high.. the slowest i can drive is 7mph at 800 rpm... and thats a bit fast for wheeling
do the dual range manual trannys bolt up to these motors? like one from an 82 ?
or will i need to do something special?
thanks!

ok so ive got a 1993 legacy 4 door car that has an auto tranny - FWD
the tranny is crapping out on me and I happen to have a AWD auto tranny - can i just bolt it up? do i need to change anything in the computer?
I am aware of how much work this project can be - and i also know that people are going to tell me to get rid of the auto tranny, and go with a manual - but that not what I want to do.
any thoughts? or ideas - can i just plug the back output shaft on the tranny and use it as a FWD? or will that anger something inside of it?
give me hell quimby!!!
thanks!

Ok so I just bought this 1993 legacy 4 door car.. front wheel drive with an auto tranny.
It leaks a stream of tranny fluid about the diameter of a pencil anytime the engine is running. I crawled under there and looked - it seemed it was coming from the tranny pan! no big deal - changed out the filter and pan gasket...
STILL LEAKS!
So i got a closer look - there is a "slot" between the tranny and where it connects to the differential - and the fluid is coming out of there - I imagine that means the front seal on the tranny is leaking. and also - the gear oil dipstick is red like its leaking into there.
So how hard is this seal to replace? (assuming thats the issue)
I always do my own work - but im feeling kinda lazy - plus I have a sloping gravel driveway at the moment (hard on jacks)- if i could get a tranny shop or someone to do it for $350 or so - Id just pay them to do it.
any thoughts / suggestions?
thanks!

My car made that noise Louder then the video, and all i did was put a whole botle of SeaFoam in the crankcase, and drove it for 65 miles. It went completley away! I was amazed!

I just bought a 1991 lagacy sport sedan with a turbo, and A/T 4 wheel drive... for $500.
Ive had legacy's before - non turbo, and ive had turbo loyal's but this thing is a blast to drive! it seems to be awesome!
Is there a difference between AWD and full time 4WD?(just asking - ive been a mechanic for over 7 years - just havent dealt with subarus that much)
I'm looking for some stats on it - i.e Hp, Torque, how much boost it has stock... or just some general comments...
Im assuming that I just got a good deal?
Thanks!

Does anyone know any good spots near corvallis / salem area for a bit of wheeling? There's about 3 of us trying to find some "legimate" places to play in the dirt / or climb trails.
any thoughts?
Or do we just need to drive up to browns camp near portland?
(hopefully im posting this in the correct place)
thanks!

Ive got an 83 ea81 wagon with 4x4 hi/low range - I was wondering if there is a way to weld the gears in the back, or otherwise lock the diff in the rear of the car?
I have never opened up a subaru rear end - I dont know if welding is even possible, or if its something i want to do. I just want something as close to a locker, or posi as possible, as i only use this car off road
thanks!
