I thought JCSVX was full of it but I just took off my harmonic bal and the key was half sheared Replaced it and drove 45 miles with no problem longest drive without light in a month!!!

thanks Joe our local dealer had replaced (bad loose) timing belts in the past and thought that was what was fixing the problem but one of the Mechanics remembers having to change the key on at least one of the jobs. this may not fix all of them but it has fixed several

Tim this also explains why replacing headgaskets has fixed some of the cars because they have to take timing belts of and why a valve adjustment can fix if they use crank pulley bolt to rotate engine. it will tighten the pulley. OH THE NON BELIEVERS

my guess is at steady speeds or idle is when the pully can move, under load such as accelerating there would be enough resitance to hold it in one position. only the really bad one that was loose enough to feel by hand, (and it set the cel every few minutes) would act up almost constantly.

OK we have fixed this problem on three different 2.5s in the last year
all three have had loose front balancers the bolts were tight but bottomed out in crank the key-way and key were worn and had to replace key on all three and new washer and shorten bolt one thread (grinder) the loose balancer causes noise and the knock sensor
retards the timing until it missfires and turns on cel. Hope this fix works for you too Joe

on our 5 speed the retard could be seen on obd!! scanner when pushing in the clutch until it would die

I grind the bolt to make sure it dosent bottom out we found this fix for 3 4 or 1 2 missfire codes by accident have total of 10000 miles on the three with no recurence of problem or cel whe the were turning on cel almod weekly or one daily

this seems related to a problem we have seen a loose balancer knocks slightly causing knock sensor to retard timing until engine dies below is our fix

CAR IS USED FOR SNOWMOBILE AND NEED EXTRA HEIGHT OR FT. AIR DAM BECOMES A SNOW PLOW.

I JUST FINISHED THE 5 LUG CONVERSION FOR MY RX I USED A XT6 DONOR CAR AND THE CONVERSION IS GREAT EXCEPT THAT THE FT END IS NOW 1.5 INCHES LOWER. I HAVE E-MAILED THE BACKYARD BOYS TWICE WITH NO REPLY ABOUT THEIR FT. END LIFT BLOCKS DOES ANYONE ELSE MAKE THEM? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS JOE

yes. tried new computer and ck'd fuse box and fuseable links all are ok.

help! my sons 85 rx turbo had a small engine comartment fire we have replaced the entire underhood wiring harnnes and distributor we have fire but the injectors will not pulse. noid light stays on constant. what tell the injector to pulse is there a crank sensor or angle sensor in dist ???
