  1. Haven't found any yet, runs and drives just fine. I know it failed a bunch of emissions stuff, so maybe that was it, being from California and all.

  3. I'm right here, guys. Yes the 82 wagon is mine. It actually gotdelivered to Maine today. It may actually be one of the most rust free I have had, although a few minor spots here and there. It runs great and needs a few things, so stay tuned. And yes, Paul is correct, it is paint code 259 Cream Yellow, just like my 84 wagon! Surprise, I also bought the 81 wagon in Boise ID as well!
  4. Thank you, i actually used that one and made my own for now. If I can get an OEM set for spares, even better!
  5. Haha! Great to hear from you Sam. Yes, I'm still around. Back on the east coast, moved back in 2008. I get bit by the Subaru bug every couple of years. I finally found a decent wagon and I think I'll be holding on to this one! Thanks so much for the information. I will let you know how the search for bushings works out. I did make some in the mean time, but i figured if I can still get them, a spare set wouldn't hurt! Thanks again guys for the responses!
  6. Hello, I've read a few posts about fixing shifter slop on a 4 speed D/R transmission. I used the tap method to change the roll pin to a 3/8 bolt. Worked great, thank you. Before I put the trans back in my car (just swapped due to synchro probs with a junkyard unit), I wanted to tighten everything else up. I've seen multiple posts stating that the bushings are still available from the dealer. I am specifically looking for the bushings where the shfiter attaches to the shift mechanism and a bushing at the bottom where the bottom of the shift rod anchors and pivots. I called a few local dealers here in CT and they dont list any parts prior to 1989. Do you have any info on who I can call to get these parts? Part numbers? My car is a 81 GL wagon 4 speed D/R, trans is from an 84 (exact match) Any help would really be appreciated. Thank you. Chris Lantieri Hebron, CT
  7. Guys, I've been gone for a while, but now I'm back. May be getting bit by the Subaru bug again. My question: Fuel pump for 1981 4WD Wagon 1) Where is it? Under the car near the rear tire or under the hood? 2) How many filters/vapor separators does it have and where are they? Thanks for the help. Chris
  8. I'll stick up for Andrew, but I live in NV now. He has been a little slow reponding sometimes in the past, but has always come through. PM or e-mail Moosens, we both know Andrew. Chris
  9. Way back when my 83 wagon did that too. I started just not using 3rd, sucked on hills, though. If you need a D/R 4 speed, let me know. I may be able to bring one out west for you in a few weeks. Chris
  10. Good point from alleyboy. He's right. Just do it right. The time spent in labor is not worth having to do it twice. Chris
  11. I bought a Subaru OEM clutch from subaruparts.com they shipped the wrong part twice, but it was like $150 and included a release bearing, pressure plate and clutch disk. Don't forget to have the flywheel resurfaced and you'll have no problems. I also replaced release bearing springs, like .10 each. Pulling the motor is the way to go, IMO. Good Luck, Chris
  12. Maybe you misunderstood me, I'm not talking about running without fluid. I'm asking "Why can't I tow the car with all 4 wheels on the ground?" Chris
  13. Hey NikFu, its in my sig. Its my 84 D/R wagon. Can someone explain to me why I have to disconnect the rear drivetrain from the transmission?? I don't want to know what happened to someone else, I want to know WHY. Isn't from the driveshaft back disconnected when the car is in 2WD?? I too have heard to remove the drieshaft or rear axles, but I'd like to know why? Isn't it like coasting down the road in 2WD?? Chris
