  1. Well I dont have the time or patience to work on this car, I guess I'm ditching the subie, its a real shame, this is the first real problem I had with it. It runs like a champ, I'm gonna miss it. I'm gonna get my girl a new car, either an 08 corolla or or lancer. I'm gonna try to get $1000 for the car, has 4 new tires, 95K miles, clean inside and out. Just needs some electrical work now. Heres some pics, very poor quality taken on my cell phone, but it shows the area where the wires are burnt, I think the blue and black one from the shifter burnt them all out,
  2. Well heres the really bad news We may have found the problem, the wire that connected to the selonoid under the shifter had some burnt wires and we got some smoke going on when I replaced the turn signal fuse. The fuse wont blow, it just melts. The smoke was coming from the right side of the car, so we pulled out the passenger kickplate and there is burnt wires all over the place, the worst one looks like the blue and black one the goes to the selonoid by the shifter. It took out a crap load of wires with it. I dont know if the selenoid went bad or what. Can I get a new harness? What is this called? HELP!
  3. I know about the manual override, but thanks for the info. I'm gonna check over all the wires and the trans linkage. The fuse plastic casing was melted.
  4. 1995 legacy LS - 95K miles, auto. Was blowing fuses, no turn signals, instrument light, cruise, and STUCK IN PARK, replaced the "Lighting SW" fuse under the hood, all good. Previously I unhooked the backup lights because they wouldnt shut off, I think they caused the short. After I replaced the lighting SW fuse and put bulbs in for the back up lights, they worked. About 2-3 weeks later, car stuck in park again, then no cruise, now no turn signals or instrument again. Turn signal fuse was MELTED! I'm assuming theres a short, but any other ideas? Also, it is weird the car would come out of park after I replaced a fuse, I was thinking it was the linkage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I searched the site, but it didnt completely solve my issues.
  5. Did some searching, found the problem, the Lighting SW fuse under the hood was blown, but it was hardly noticeable.
  6. I just checked it out. First, the car would not go out of park, I had to hit the override to get it in drive. The turn signal fuse was blown. The car has headlights, four ways, and brake lights, but no parking lights or tail lights. Im going to keep working, does it sound like possibly the head light switch is bad? The tailight contact on the back bulb is putting out no power.
  7. I have a 95 legacy, about 90,000 miles. A few weeks ago, the tailights went out, I replaced the fuse and they went out again in a few days. Then I replaced it and it was good for a week or so. My girlfriend called me this morning and said the taillights, instrument cluster, and turn signals are not working. Now I know this is a hunt and search project, but has anyone had this same problem or is there a known solution to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm lost when it comes to electronics.
  8. Everything has been going great with legacy, had a CEL, changed the coolant temp sensor, fixed that and of course the car needs all the seals changed. The only other problem that I cant solve is when I turn on the headlights, most of the time the reverse lights stay on, which makes it unsafe to drive. They dont go out if you go into reverse and out, it will go out if I keep slamming the trunk. For now, I unhooked the lights. Any ideas?
  9. Im about to do some painting on my 95 legacy ls, its a redish maroon color, is there a list of all the paint codes for this year anywhere?
  10. My 95 legacy was flashing the CEL with error code P0115 Engine Coolant Temp Circuit Malfunction I just replaced the sensor with an OEM part. The job wasnt that bad, pull off the intake and the ten thousand hoses going to it, unhook a few lines, use a 19mm deep and remove the sensor and throw the other one on, about a 20-30 minute job, not bad. So far, no CEL. Ill let you guys know if it comes back on.
  11. Thanks bud, Im gonna change the sensor and then see if the CEL goes away, Ill let you guys know
  12. Good news! Well not too good, I got a code: P0115 Engine Coolant Temp Circuit Malfunction Ok, thats all I know, now any ideas? The guy said the sensor should be fine, its a wireing problem.
  13. There IS a 16 pin connector under a little cover to the left of the steering wheel, im assuming thats the OBDII. So can i just go to autozone and have it read? Is there a code look up online?
