  1. Things you should not do in a Justy... 1. Attempt to have sex. Notice that I say attempt. Unless you are a very small person or you and your partner are both double jointed gymnasts, I really do not see it happening. 2. Drive at high speeds during a thunderstorm. A Justy is a very light car. Driving at speeds of 65mph or better during a thunderstorm with high wind gusts is just not advisable. At some point the wind will blow you off of the road and the excess water on the road will cause you to hydroplane - a lot. 3. Run over animals. Hitting a racoon the size of a black lab is generally not a good idea in a Justy. It is especially hazardous during the aforementioned rainstorm with gusting winds. Hitting a critter that size will cause the Justy to bounce in a most unpleasant fashion, and by the time you stop bouncing all over the road the high winds and hydroplaning will have taken effect and you will most likely do a series of 180's and 360's before ending up in the nearest field. Don't worry, the Justy is OK. However, I cannot say the same for the racoon...
  2. Thanks for all of the info everyone. Even with the rough idle it still runs like a raped ape when you get it going. Well, maybe not an ape, it's a little small for that. I even deliviered pizza in it for a night without too many problems without the tune up. You guys are making me rethink selling it, so I went ahead and ordered the wires/distibutor/rotor. I guess I can always get rid of the turismo instead, anyone interested?
  3. Wow, I did not need to hear that, but thanks anyway. I bought it in a package deal with an 89 turismo, both for $500, so I am not sure I would even sink that much money into it if it has a bad cyl. The body and int. are in good shape though, if I can find another engine to throw in it for cheep then maybe...
  4. I just bought an 89 justy that has been badly abused. I was originally going to sell it, but it is starting to grow on me. I know very little about cars in general and even less about Subarus. It was originally an automatic but was changed to a 5-spd at some point, and it has a 3-cyl engine. It never fails to start, but it runs REALLY rough. We are in the process of a tune up, but the plug wires had to be ordered, no one had them in stock. I have noticed that as long as you have the rpms above 1600 or so, it smooths right out. I have had one person tell me that the normal idle on most subarus is around 900 (mine idles at about that), and I have had another person tell me that because it is a 3-cyl it should idle higher (around 1500 or higher). I am considering changing the idle, but I am not sure what is normal for this car. Does anyone know what it should be idling at, and do you have any tips on changing the idle? I was told that working on a Subaru is different than working on most other cars.
