  1. Timing out as suggested, finished an hour or so. It runs. The idle is quite lumpy and engine appears to be out of balance. Currently idling around 950-980 rpm. Raise idle about 20-50 rpm and it smooths out. ISC solenoid?, EGR/PCV valve? throttle body air leak?, poor injectors? suggestions?
  2. Sounds about right The arrow aint the mark! (My bet on the situation anyway!) I just used the long motor all the gear off of the 91 matched. Read just before about the exhaust ports etc. The 95 had the same dual pipe exhaust ports, all the fittings look the same. The wreckers ("breakers" for the American's) said with definate certainty that it would definately fit and work.
  3. Made sure #1 TDC Used the notch on the pulleys and lined up with the markings on the plastic backing/case. crank lined up with mark on case All lined up with the marks on the belts, for the 44/40 teeth or whatever it was.
  4. Hey Everyone! Got a problem. Just ripped the old engine out of 91 liberty ej22. Had done 492,000K. Using 1.5litres oil a week plus rediculous amounts of fuel. Replacement with long block from 95 liberty ej22. 86000K Has new clutch/pressure plate, bearings Leads, plugs, air cleaner, fuel filter, every oil seal on front of engine. Installed timing kit ie gears, idlers and belt. new leads and plugs thermostat and oring has great compression Has spark, tested coil resistance aok, tested igniter multimeter appears to be fine, all injectors make clicking noises (listened with screwdriver) injector wiring has output measured with multimeter fuel pump making noise and squirts fuel across engine bay tested resistance of crank and cam sensors at connectors on rear of manifold appear to be fine. Checked all fuses. dis/reconnected wiring harness connectors next to battery. Connected test/read diagnostics connectors, no errors. unplugged #1 injector turned over played with multimeter reConnected test/read diagnostics connectors, showed #1 injector fault. cleared codes. nothing reported turns over and over and over. No spurts splutters nothing. pulled plugs #1 & #2 grey, #3 no discolouration changed old plugs in no life. Do these things have a base timing jumper or anything like f*rds or Toyotas? Have kept battery charged so it is definatelt ok. poured petrol down its throat, nothin Got me stumped.
