  1. Yes, I do apply a good amount of downward pressure as I tighten the cap and I make sure it ratchets for at least a quarter turn. I think this is the fix for this problem! Was your cruise control inopperable during the flashing light situation like mine was? Did you go to the dealer to pull the codes and if so what were the results?
  2. had the same problem with my 2005 Outback 2.5i 5speed. I cured it twice by removing and retightening the fual cap. It takes a few miles and/or starts to clear the lights. It hasn't happened recently, but I've been tightening the cap thoroughly after each fill-up.
  3. Great Video!! Too bad the Volvo owners had to pay so much for that kind of performance. Sometimes it pays off in other ways for not being too wealthy:brow:
  4. I bought a 2005 OBW leftover back in October and have been completely satisfied so far. I just have to make sure I tighten the gas cap thoroughly though, as you can see in my other posts! Wish you luck with the new car!
  5. In both cases, for me, the CEL was on steady and the cruise light was flashing. My interpretation of the original post was this same situation. We'll all be grateful, Walkman05, if you would specify this discrepency and let us know if the problem was fixed and how you fixed it. Thanks from all of the students at Subie U!
  6. Make sure your gas cap is sealing properly. I've had the same problem with an '05 OBW two times now and cured it by taking the cap off and tightening it thoroughly. It takes a few miles( less than 20, I guess, cuz I wasn't really counting)and/or a few starts and stops of the engine before the lights (CEL and cruise) will go out. FYI: When my cruise light was blinking I couldn't make use of cruise control on my manual trans. Visually inspect the seal to make sure there are no tears or kinks in it. Hope this helps since you can do this for free and don't have to go anywhere. It worked for me!
