  1. I was thinking of upgrading my stk seats and steering wheel.

I saw your pics - is Sparco the way to go - how much work to replace the seats and s. wheel?

    Sam

personal favourite sparco, i like the style and quality, not that much work to be honest, i got a hub kit for aftermarket steering wheels in a reduced section in a car acccesories shop, was meant for a honda civic, i cut the spline off the old steering wheel, welded it on, and on it all went, horn is on a seperate button, and the seats, i bolted 2 pieces of box section on the front to back of the seats, then going the otherway, welded on with holes to mount the standard runners onto, and they sit bang on where you want them, not too high or low!

  2. Backinbrat, this could be the best answer if U good at fab/welding. with the flat bed blank piece of paper box section new rails cross pieces to pick up new pick up points subframe.....thinking along these lines as Ive got a bit of rot near torsion bar mounting.

As my plans are similar....RWD drift plaything thats able to carry sheets of plasterboard etc..........My thoughts are.

gearbox...Imprez/legacy Theese must be able to fit easer than finding alternative?. found a link (must find again) from USMB to another site, guide 2 welding center diff in imp/leg gearbox for RWD.

Rear end Impreza/ leg, s13/s14 or go solid. PPC magazine put volvo rear axle in mk2 escort cheep as chips handles loads of power Avalible in open (Welded please) locker or lsd......BMW 3 series? cheep as chips.

At the moment I plan to, as mine standard output, weld rear diff (yes eventially it might break transfer shaft in box) but 10min and front shafts from behind seats are back in, limp back home in fwd......by then will have decided best way forward. U got front spoiler thought out yet???

hmm, yes, a 4 link setup would be quite doable i reakon, but i would like to keep independent, the subaru way, if only the LSD's were more avalible over here!

ive got some thoughts, and will faff with it when the engine is done, but loads of ideas flying around

long of the short, where are you from again, we need to meet up and discuss drifting issues! haha!

  3. right, so, update! the heads are back (FINALLY!) from the machine shop, and lookin good!

    heads on!

    engine is in!

    DSC00714.jpg

new clutch in behind that as well, and bearing, sitting behind that lightened flywheel, which i can't wait to see how it reasponds! the stainless steel dual port manifolds should be on tomorrow or monday with the webers ontop!

plenty left to do still, redo the water lines, new alternator belt, inlet manifolds on, weld on the stainless system, put some new throttle cables in, oil pressure guage to hook up, setup the carbs, test it all etc!

  4. oh, lol, just so happans theres a 2wd auto one on ebay AU lmao! well tempted but ive got enough projects! would just like a 4WD one, then pop the front shafts, that would be so rood! lol put the rims i got on my truck now on it, then drop it a bit, so did they come in 4WD format? and i have seen yours on youtube, think you sent it to me, with the new at the time exhuast system

  5. I do like those wheels... I'm so tempted to do a road going awd leone but ....:-\

i really want a leone, do a drift build on that, that would be sick! lol

i need a 4 seater ideally! its only me and one other that i can transport around!

anyone know where i could get one, a EA81 shape one, sedan, if theres one avalible, let me know, and it cant be 2wd or auto! lol!

  6. hmmm, this infinity J30, i have never seen one, and not seen one in the UK! they dont even import infinitys offically here! lol

the S13 route is one i might well look into, theres shed loads of them over here, and they all just blow up haha! so planty of LSD's im sure there are kicking about!

would rather keep it all subaru really, full coilovers would be nice, would i right in saying they were on the RX's and similar? but i will look out for alternatives!

  7. My brother and I just completed our subaru to VW swaps. His engine is an all subaru EA81 solid lifter engine. Mine is a hydraulic lifter EA81 with dual carbs and a "tuned" exhaust. (both my own setup) His feels like a good daily driver. Mine can do donuts, gives a lot harder kick in the seat, and will leave a lot more rubber on the road.

This has got me very interested, i like the carb ideas, thats somin i thought of before, but what do you do with the water system, where have you put the thermostat and temperature guage sender? or did you buy somin or cut one off somin?

i really like this idea, lots of fuel and air, its gonna give you some more ooomph! can you put a vid on youtube? my computer went spastic over photobucket!

  8. http://www.suberdave.com/subaru/Leone/flex/index.htm

right, ive been sent this link, and i recognise the car its on is off here as well, would this conversion, using this proceedure, work on a EA81 brat? or do they have a different setup to the EA82?, im guessing its an impreza strut setup that this has been converted to, and hence the fitment of the adj. coilovers

otherwise, whats close? and can someone please forward me to this guy! lol!

  9. ah, i shall look into a s13 transmission, that might be worth pursuing, as well as a rear LSD, which im also on the look out for, if anyones got one? and also a big pleasy is rear discs, both these items are obsolete over here!

i'll check out that link when i can, but techno toy tuning can provide adjustable weld on spring seats and camber/caster plates for this with only a little redrilling required, and then putting just the shocks or some soft sprung adjustable coilovers on the rear with the torsion bar, ideally im after the least hasstle route, it may be worth considering

and i highly doubt this will be used in competition, its just my love child really, and i wanna do a few drift what ya brung days, and generally have a giggle, be pretty sick if you saw it on tv for the european drift championship though :P

the sparcos mount quite simply really, i got the idea off subarubrat.com, cut 2 pieces of box section to the same length as the original seat runners, then weld on 2 pieces in the right place at each end, drill some holes in it, wah lah, you have custom seat runners that will take pretty much any bucket seat!

  10. well, the flywheel came back from the machinists today, looking shweeeet, and 2.5kg lighter

and in reply to the lowering question, simply cut the springs by one coil on the front, and clocked the torsion bar a notch on the rear, then the 16" wellers, i cant tell you the offset, cause i dont know! i can check next time im up the garage

now im just waiting for the restof the machine work to be done:rolleyes:
