  1. hello all , this model was never officialy imported to new zealand so no subaru dealers have any info on this car , it has adjustable valve clearences , i need to know the clearences to adjust my inlet and exhuast valves ...any info that some one has or point me to a website that has this would be most helpful ... many thanks for any replies cheers blair
  2. use an etch primer (hi temp ) and any old hi temp paint in a can will work well , any particular reason you want to paint a part that will never be seen ? cheers mate blair
  3. i just did this the other day and i used a penetrating oil all around the pulley and kinda wiggled it side to side and it came off .... they all dont always come that easy , be carful levering against other parts of the engine , i also have used a crankshaft puller looks like a tripod that has three arms that go on the back of the pulley and you screw a bolt down onto the crankshaft and it pulls the pulley off .... just keep workin at it . cheers blair
  4. hello all , while checking the diagnostic connectors under my dash (black and green ones ) why do the green ones when connected run the radiator fan in short bursts ? the black connectors told me the crank sensor was buggered so i replaced that at nz $ 160.00 , no more start issues now , can anyone explain the function of the green ones please , cheers blair
  5. well surprise surprise i joined the two black plugs under the dash togeather and up flashed code 11 ... crank sensor ..... will replace with anew one today , strange that the snap on modis diagnostic tool never picked up any fault . many thanks to all who helped . cheers blair
  6. thanks guys , if the car sits for awhile after i drive it ,it will start again , no engine codes no check light at all has ever come up. i will replace a couple of sensors and see what happens , many thanks
  7. hello all , i ahve a 96 impreza 1.8 4wd auto wagon (gf6) start from cold no problem , drive it up the road a little bit or get it warm and try to start again she will crank and crank 4 ages befor starting . replaced the coils and the ignition unit and the fuel pump (bosch) and the fuel pump relay ....... battery is brand new spark plugs are fine ... the real problem is that it wont always do it ... so its an intermittident fault ..... any ideas would be great thanks. removed my car alarm because i thought it may be the ignition immobiliser .... it wasnt .... cheers blair
