  1. So the Loyale's safe and sound and unstolen - I guess my note doesn't need to be taking up a slot at the top now. My question - how did these people start the car without screwing up my ignition? Don't they have to pry it out to hotwire the car or whatever? I'm wondering if the 90 Loyales have that thing like certain years of Toyotas are rumored to have, where one key fits all. Or maybe it's common knowlege you can get them started with a nailfile or something. (my key is VERY plain looking) So I'm thinking that whoever stole my car might try it again after a while. It's going to be parked in the same spot, pretty high visibility. They know how to start it, apparently. Any god ideas for this? Secret cutoff switch like I remember my dad rigging up in the old days or something?
  2. Amazing. 3 weeks later this guy calls me up and says my car's been sitting in front of his house. It's about a half mile away. I walk over and check it out, it starts, they didn't screw up the ignition or anything. They didn't even use more than a couple gallons off that full tank! Incredible. So I called the police and they're sending someone over to make the report. And probably give me ************ for picking it up myself. Bummer, speaking of the meth, is that the registration and related documents seem to have been stolen. They left the insurance card with my name on it which is how the guy knew who to call. Of course I h ave the title at home. What can ID theives do with a car reg and stuff? Hmmm. Waiting for the cops, then off to buy a Club. Thanks for the concern, USMB! Thanks a ton!
  3. Thanks a LOT, will do. If I get it back I promise to install a hidden kill switch!
  4. Hi all, boo hoo, my sub's been ripped off. Location, Portland Oregon Lic 301BKH Red 90 wagon, 2wd, steel wheels, missing trim drivers rear panel Good luck to the cops but if anyone sees it msg me! Man am I bummed.
  5. I'm looking for wheels--specifically, either 2 of the slotted-type 80s alloys or a full set of something similar. (I have the slotteds on front and mismatched mutts in back) I need better wheels so I can buy new tires! A mechanic friend mentioned a "good subaru junkyard" in the Portland area for this. He's M.I.A. now. Anybody know what he might be talking about?
  6. thanks for that. What I really want to know is what actuates the belt mechanism. It seems to be somehow involved with the actual latch of the door. When I'm sitting in the car and open the door to get out, the belt mostly doesn't move unless I leave the door ajar with the latch touching but not latched-- OR stick a finger into the latch mechanism. THis move clearly switches something, and makes the belt slide forward on the track normally enough. Anybody know what I'm talking about? If I can fix this, I'll be all stoked about the car again and I'll re-seal the oil pump and drill holes in the air filter thing and do all that other stuff you subaru geniuses talk about on here. I swear!
  7. I've been lurking with just that intent; must have missed it. I'll look some more but meanwhile I'd welcome any more remarks. By the way shall I stay away from the old WD-40 on this?
  8. Hello Subaru forum, Thanks for existing. I've learned a lot reading. My question is regarding my 90 2wd auto Loyale. The drivers side shoulderbelt sticks on its little electric rail--like it gets "confused" about when it should slide forward and back, or gets stuck. I have to open the door a little ways and wait for it to move when I get out of the car. What exactly switches this mechanism, it appears to have something to do with the latch, correct? Is there a cheap fix?
