  1. Okay, I'll start there. It looks like carbsunlimited is only 60 for the kit instead of 70. Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it man.
  2. Plugs, gas out the exhaust, and the front passenger cv boot is fried. All signs seem to point to running rich. What elevation do you live at? Logan is 4500+ feet and it spends most its time tooling around the mountains. From what I take the weber carb needs attention past 2500 feet.
  3. Its rich on the bottom end, so I am thinking a primary jet. Everyone around here wants to sell me a 'kit' that cost $70.00. It hesitates when I take off, and once it is warm wont idle below 1500rpm. It is the stock K731 redline kit, I guess I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction on the jet, or have a handful laying around that they would part with for a little bit. I suppose I should have been more explicit. Thanks for your help though.
  4. I have a Weber DGEV on the old brat and would like to go a step leaner than stock (it spends a fair shot of time at 5k feet+.) Does anyone have some spare jets hanging around/be willing to sell me one?
  5. Sorry guys, I have been away from the interwebs. The disty was bad. I had put in a A1 Cardone reman one, and well where the wires hook up to charge it, the original replacement was completely different that the new one that I just put in. I am going to guess that is the issue, but this hitachi-nippo thing has me interested. I will have to check into that and see if they're different. If so I'll have to come up with something different. Maybe its time for a Accel coil.
  6. So I got into it a little more last night. It is definitely a spark issue. The coil seems to be doing its job; rotor, cap, etc look good, as do the wires. I put a rebuilt distributor in about 6 weeks ago, is there a chance the ignitor is bad in the distributor? Any other ideas out there?
  7. Thanks guys, I was camping for the weekend but I am going to jump back on it today and see if I can't make some headway. I was kinda thinking maybe the coil, but then I had another thought, could it be something with the EGR and all the emissions garbage? I will check the coil first though.
  8. thanks for your input. It cranks, and smells of gas. Pulled the plugs, cranked it and couldn't see any spark. Could be that its broad daylight out though, and I am not so desperate yet to hold on to the plug to find out...but yeah, it has me stumped. All I can think is it is some electrical gremlin upset by the heat, but idk.
  9. So my Brat has decided that it doesn't like to start in the heat, and I am at a loss as to what it could be. It seems more like a loss of spark than anything. I initially thought vapor lock, but when I dumped some gas down its gullet it did not respond. Could it be the coil? Some sort of temp sensor? I'm at a loss, any advice/suggestions would be extremely appreciated!
  10. Update: New one is in. Thanks Travis at Car Quest of Logan for a deal on the new disty.
  11. Okay, from poking around the forum I think I have confirmed my suspicions... Now how do I switch it out without screwing the timing? Any suggestions, oh and does anyone have a spare sitting around? Thanks-
  12. So my tach has started jumping around pretty bad, and from time to time the car will fall on its face when I start rolling. I would be inclined to think it is the distributor giving me issues, but of course if I open the hood to see if it is the culprit the jumping goes away and I can't put my hand on it to check for vibrations (I swear I am going to catch it one of these mornings.) From what I read on the forum it could be the alternator or coil as well? How do I go about checking before I start buying? oh and if it is the disty, how do I get it out and a new one in with out screwing the timing over? (I am sure it is probably in the forums somewhere, I just didn't find it...)Thanks in advance guys-
  13. Yeah I bought it from my brother; he works at CarQuest and gets a little butt hurt when I purchase parts elsewhere. At least he gets me a decent price. Suppose I will just hold onto it cause I am planning the lift and 2.2 swap this spring/summer (I am going to go carb style, wires hate me.)
  14. BTW thanks, and Merry Christmas! PS, if anyone has a shorter element and would like to trade for the taller one let PM me.
  15. Of course. Good thing I checked into that before I put this thing on 200 miles away from my house. hahaha
  16. So I finally got around to putting the Weber on my '86 Brat that has been sitting in my room for 4 weeks and I can't close the hood! Car runs great, but the hood makes solid contact with my shiny new chrome filter...did I do something wrong?
  17. Sounds good, guess I will tear it apart again. You know i am getting pretty efficient at the dissasembly/assembly process.:-\
  18. yeah, but i didnt know about that at first, might i have screwed things over?
  19. Yep, i am going to replace the timing belts, the passenger side is a hair stretched (when the middle line is lined up it is almost into the next valley instead of TDC. We turned the disty one tooth and it ran rough, had to keep the throtle cracked to keep it at an idle. Something is off, i just dont know what other than a maybe the TB is streched.
  20. It will start and then backfires, and dies. I have tohold the throttle about 75% open to get that
  21. The valve marks are the three together that come up after the numbered ones right?
  22. So i have put my loyale back together this weekend, and i cant seem to get it timed right. It will run but rough. I am positive that everything is lined up correctly, maybe i ahve some wire crossed, not sure. Any advice?
  23. Thanks man, I'll check out that walker and see how it matches up to the one htat i found at the local muffler shop. Cheers-
  24. I don't have my Loyale with me, and I am trying to find a new exhaust for it. I read that alot of people just use an oval turbo style muffler, but what offset do I need to pick up? Also I found a round turbo style, does anyone know what the original muffler's diameter is? thanks--Nik
  25. So I am having my heads worked over, and for all the milling to get them flat again, ported, polished (just as well i figure) and to have the valve seats cleaned up, what should i expect to pay?
