  1. I had a similar problem. Turn the ignition, and it would either click once, or nothing. SOmetimes I'd turn that key for several minutes before it would start. Had the starter rebuilt, didn't help. Turned out to be the ignition switch itself. Replaced that, no probs since.
  2. Whatever the problem is it keeps coming and going. But when the CEL lights up there's no temp reading at all. Also, when I start it in the morning, it coughs, splutters and runs really weird until it warms up. I'll check the wires and connections. What's the other temp sensor? The one I changed is a metal probe about 1.5-2 inches long that bolts into the engine. It's got a dual wire connector attached.
  3. The CEL is for the temp sensor (which I've replaced after the first time)
  4. Any ideas on how to get stop leak out of my cooling system? It keeps triggering a CEL (temp sensor) I can take it to JiffyLube for their radiator flush and reset the ECU, but a few weeks later it pops up again. I've now had 2 flushes at $80 a pop. (94 impreza 1.8 5 spd)
  5. I have a 1994 Impreza 1.8 Trying to get it smogged (in CA) It failed the "Idle Emissions" at 739 rpm hc measured 430 co measured 2.51 Everything was great at 2390 rpm. hc: 11 co: 0 I'm trying to find out the most likely cause. Thanks.

  7. I'm positive. I counted 3 times, just to make sure. I found a codes list somewhere and it said that 34 was something to do with the EGR valve?
  8. Ok, it worked great. I got error codes 21 (Water temp sensor according to the Legacy site) and 34 (Not on the legacy list) So.....my next questions are: 1) How hard is it to swap out the water sensor? (Try not to get too technical, I know more about puters than cars) 2) What's code 34?
  9. The only other noticable symptom is that the car coughs and splutters when it's cold. Other than that, it runs fine.
  10. Hello, I have a check engine light on, and cannot find a code reader to save my life. Any suggestions? Is there any way to reset it?
