Hey guys, my current muffler has rust and erosion holes in it and it is now very noisy and killing my gas mileage. My questions is, when I buy a new muffler can I simply take the old one off and replace it with the new one? Is there any welding or sodering that has to be done? Sorry for the stupid question & thanks in advance for all your help!!

Sure, Lawsonmh15 said.. "I'd be sure to check your Air box. Like I said, remove the hose from the intake at the 2nd resonator air intake box and resecure it. Make sure you reconnect the hose to the PCV on the bottom of the 1st resonator intake. This sounds too much like a vacuum issue though." I followed those instructions and sure enough she started right up beautifully!! Thank you endlessly for your help and patience guys!!

Hey guys, I was able to fix the problem and get my impreza back on the road just now!! I did just what you said LAWSONMH15 and low and behold she started up perfectly!!! No problems! THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP AND PATIENCE!!! I appreciate it more then you could know!!! Kukliani

It does have 207 K miles and I dont have any history on the car so it could very well be the belt. How do I check to see if that is the problem? Also how would I clean out the idle air control valve?

Thanks again for all your continued support however I just came back from checking the hoses and everything seems to be in order in that department. I noticed though when I did try to start the car and gave it gas, I gradually let my foot off the gas and the car idled by itself at like 200rpm and it shook pretty badly however I let it run like that for about 5 minutes before I shut it off! Is there a possibility that it is still a hose problem?

ok cool. I went out last night and checked but due to lack of knowledge and it getting dark I was unable to find any loose hoses. However I am going back out to the car now to go and check for that again! Hopefully I will have better luck. Part of the problem is that I lack all kinds of knowledge for example, I dont know what the throttle body is or where to look for it. I tried to look around the air box but im not 100% sure that is correct. Nonetheless I did not see any loose hose. I will post my results. Thanks again everyone!!!

I did recently replace the air filter! I will check for that and see what happens!! I can't thank you guys enough for your support!! I will post my results!!

I was able to change the fuel filter no problem like you guys said. However, when I start the car it will only idle if I step on the gas other then that it continues to shut off immediately! What other potential problems can I look for in order to fix this problem? Thanks again for all your help and support!!

Hey sorry to bother you again but I was wondering what you meant by this "The CEL should always be on if the car is not running but switch is on. Still wouldn't hurt to check the codes, though." Is there a certain code I should be aware of electrically?

The lights do come on after the car stalls out. Where is the fuel filter located? Can I get that at the auto part store? Sorry for my ignorance I am new to all this but need to get my car back up and running asap! Thanks again for all your help!!

Hey, I have a 1993 subaru impreza and when I started it just now, it turned on for a second and shut off immediately. It will not idle at all unless I step on the gas. I think it may be something with the fuel injection but im not sure. I bought some fuel injection cleaner and put it into the gas tank but that didnt do anything to help the situation. Does anyone have any knowledge on what is causing this and how to fix it? I would greatly appreciate any comment's on this topic. Hope to hear from you soon cause I can't be with out a car for long!!!

Hey sorry for posting in the wrong area, I realized that after I posted. I am looking for a exploded view of the front axel in an attempt see where everthing goes cause my right front CV joint is making all kinds of noise and shaking all crazy when I turn the the left and it's getting worse. I have read what to do but I would like a picture to get an idea. Thanks for your time and patience.
