  1. Hello all. I recently purchase Syonyk's 87 GL wagon. I am a datsun head who wanted a reliable daily driver while I restore my '87 300zx (My Z gallery) and Russ's wagon seemed like the perfect vehicle . I've already had the opportunity to change the water pump, and do a few other small maintainence items so I'm already fairly familiar with my car however I have a few maintainence and resource specific questions about my new GL: 1. What (if any) information sites would you recommend? I'm looking for basic engine specs, wiring diagrams, and basic information. 2. What are the most frequent trouble spots on the GLs? 3. Haynes or Chilton? 4. ECU location? 5. how/where do i adjust my clutch cable? I'd like it to disengage/engage near the floor rather than near the top where it is. Thanks a lot
  2. there's no link to a gallery in your profile.
  3. This sounds like the shaft seals on the turbocharger are starting to go. Under sustained boost conditions, see if your exhaust is blowing a lot of blue smoke or if you smell oil burning. If you are, then you have blown shaft seals. You can either use this as an opportunity to put something newer/better in, or replace/rebuild. If you're going to replace or rebuild the stock unit, you can attempt to rebuild it yourself, or buy a cartridge kit and keep your turbine and compressor housings.
  4. check your spark by spraying carb cleaner or ether into the intake and attempting to start. You'll at least know that you have it timed correctly and that the firing order is correct.
  5. After purchasing that wagon, Russ and I threw a new water pump in it, swapped out the rear brakes, and I drove it from Russ's place in Iowa to visit my girlfriend in minnesota, then back to Chicago where I live and it handled it like a champ.
