K new problems. It won't start again I have just replaced the timing belts and new idilers. It ran fine for about 4 days and then we got some cold weather and it wouldn't start. I adjusted the screw on the throttle body so now it's runng back at 700 rpm. The check engine light now comes on when at idle or untill I give it gas. So when ever I'm driving it's fine but some times the light shuts off. So I am wondering what the new problem I have now? It agian won't start but it is still cold out. Any help would be nice?

Hey does any body on here know any employees that work at S-Wings Stuff in Denver, and do they have a website? Also does anybody know if a timing belt would cause the misfire or bad emmissions problem?

Alright, problem solved, the rotor does not turn so I have a bad timing belt. Hurray!!! Well thanks everyone for helping me. Give me a few days and It should be up and running agian. Well anybody want an 88 Dl Turbo $800 just so I don't have to fix it. I'm located in Denver CO just to let you know.

Any other suggestions on the bad missing when accelrating? I also have a new problem....
SO now the car died on me while driving...it wont start but turns over just fine. I checked to see if i was getting spark and It's not 
I suspect the coil. How do I test the coil??? I will do a search for it. But any other sussestions would be helpfull. One more thing....What is the thing plugged into the coil? could it be bad? And agian how do I chech that. -
Alright more fun stuff. The torbo seems to be fine but looks like it is leaking. I had to replace a small raditaor hose that feeds the turbo coolant??? Is this right? I know it uses oil but antifreeze too? If this is right I was thinking that the coolant is leaking into the turbo and getting put into the engine causuing it to misssfire. Causing the funny colored plugs, they look brand new but look like S*it. Can any one help. I lost my subaru repair manual, and am very sad because i was used to my EJ-22.

Alright I just got a 88 Station wagon and I am having a few problems. First of all the car is not passing emmisions. It is running 44.0 on CO with the limit at 20, What i have noticed that has been done to it, plugs, wires, o2 sensor, cap, rotor, air cleaner, and vacumm hoses replaced. Well first of all the car hesatites when accelrateing even with turbo running. What I have noticed when I pulled the plugs is that they were white on top and black oil covered between the electrode. I also saw this on the o2 sensor but just the white part. what is this, and can i rip off and plug the vacum oil lines that go into the air intake?

Hey I have a 87 Subaru Gl hatch but it has a 95' EJ22 motor in it. They never even blinked an eye when they poped the hood, and it even has an intake with an heat shield on it. I have only talked to one guy in the last 10 years that any idea what was going on at the emmissions place.

I have a question on how to shut off my four wheel drive? I heard i could just unplug something and the rear would just be dead. Can anyone help? It's just for fun in the snow:)

See I knew you could find a harness some where. I have bought two of them in the past year, Since my subaru has gotten broken into twice now and the harness has dissapeared with the radios. Along with everything eles in the car.

I had the same problem and I tried about every thing but It came down to the stupid cone washer. I even bought brand new ones, they were a pain in the but to find them Subaru, Cheker, even my local subaru shop only had used ones. What happened to mine was the washer gets worn on the out side and a lip forms thus not really tighting the hub down. Just binding agianst the hub and not getting a tight fit. Grind the outer part of the washer to a slightly sharper angle and reinstall but be shure it is really clean and perfectly round. good luck

The best and "professional" way to hook up the deck is to buy a wiring harness for about 15 bucks can get at any car parts store even Radio Shack and Target. All you do is unplug the the harness form the orignal deck and plug into the harness you bought. You don't even have to wire any thing in the car. They even come with a color chart for the wires. If the orignal harness has been cut just get one from a yard and match wire colors and blam your set.

I had almost the same problem in my 95 legacy but it turned up to be a crank shaft position sensor and cam shaft position sensors, but it never showed up on my check engine light? Had to go to Subaru and hook it up to the computer. I forgot which subie you had, so I don't know if this applies.

hey thanks I was stranded eariler today, but I got her home. I am messing with the timing now. It was set at about 25 BTDC if there were marks that high so now its at 13 BTDC now that its warm so I just messed with the idel screw and she sorta started still the problem with the check engine light? I'll check the codes for the prob.
