I can't access that link covering the post. If anyone knows what this problem may be, please re-post. Thanks

i took a good purge control valve, cut the wires off near the connector, took a bad egr valve and cut the wires and cut it off near the valve.took the wires and conector from the egr valve and spliced it to the purge control valve and put it in the place for the egr valve.wasn't sure if it would work but they looked identical other than the connectors.it did make my egr code go away and i haven't noticed any thing different.

I built a basket to mount on my yakima rack,1a towers, but the towers don't fit really well. They seem like they are in bind.Could there be some shims or something I'm missing?Any body else had trouble hooking their yakima to a loyale? When I hokked it to my hatch it fit like a glove.THanks for any info

mine is doing the same thing.i took it the subaru shop and asked one of the mechanics who has been there along time.he went for a ride with me and he said he didn't think it could be a wheel bearing because they usually make a higher pitched noise than what i have.he told me to check the oil level in my tanmission, which was bone dry so i filled it.the noise has not gone away.he said the transmission is not rebuildable.i guess i just drive it til it quits altogether, its got 234,00 miles on it.

Seafoam is awsome stuff, it's even more of a mystery than the Marval Mystery Oil. I'm going to dump some in a few hundered miles before I change my oil next, but I hope it doesn't offset the benifits that running Mobil 1 for the last 8,000 miles will bring me...
I am also planning on running the Seafoam transmission flush before I service my transmission...
could you explain the transmission flush.this is something i ought to do.

Mine stopped on the way home from work about a month ago.Thought it was the timing belts.Ended up the screw that holds the rotor button in place fell out.It would turn over but not start.Hope this helps.

My brothers wife had a 84/85 hatch with a light behind the subaru emblem on the front grill.does anyone know how long they had these and what were they on?Do you ever come across these at the junkyard?

What was the water for?Tensioner wrench? What's that fancy thang? :-pReally tho you don't need any special tools to do a timing belt job on these little guys. I just did 2 timing belts in the street last weekend. Only used a 10mm, 12mm, 14mm,, 22mm, screw drivers, and a bottle of water.
Make those tensioner pullies do their job! Hold them tight against the belt as you tighten them down. Just like you do on an alternator
For spinning the cam just put on a belt that isnt really that tight, slip the crank pulley bolt on and roll over the engine with your breaker bar + 22mm socket untill the cam is lined up how you want. Then do the other cam seperately. Once they are lined up continue on!

Do you have an idea where the leak is coming from?my 90 loyale leaks oil which drips down to the cat. converter and usually does a great deal of smoking (which can be quite humorous and embarrassing at a drive through window). other than that it is a great car that is very dependable. -
I'm gonna go look at a loyale tomarrow,it has 230,000 miles. How do these compare to the 85 hatch with an ea81 as far as durability and longevity? Are they simpler or harder to work on?What kind of mechanical failures are common.
Thanks for your input,

okay,I couldn't get the original carb that I rebuilt to idle right. So I took a chance on one from the junkyard.(Hitachi).Didn't do anything but spray it out with carb cleaner and plug it in.Idles fine with just a little hesitation when step on the gas.Runs pretty good when I take it out on the road. But when I'm down on it and let off the gas it will spit and sputter through the exhaust and sometimes backfire. The original downfall pipe was wasted when I bought the car'so I replaced it with 2" stainless pipe back to about where the cat would connect to the 1 3/4 pipe .It is 1 3/4 back to the muffler, new turbo muffler. The question is should I take the car down and have interstate muffler run me 1 3/4 all the way back and see if my problems dissappear,or should I get a WEBER and see if they dissappear.I have been messing with this engine issue since christmas, and I'd like to be done with the body work before summer gets here. Thanks for your help.

Gettin ready to swap to a weber, but I have a few questions. Is the connector for the electric choke the same or will it need need to be modified? What needs to be added if I get a carb with the water choke. The adapter plate, does any one have a picture or sketch of what it looks like.I could probably make it if I could see one.Does the coolant hole on the manifold get blocked off by the adapter plate or is there a hole for that too?And finally does any one have pictures or diagrams of the hose connections.
Thanks

Has anyone experimented with a Rochester carb?A friend of mine has offered one he used on a 2.3 mustang that he races.

I just bought MY 85 gl hatch and want to restore it best I can.It was the first car I bought and paid for.lots of memories in that car.well I REBUILT THE CARB,hatachi, new plugs wires, disributor, button, both fuel filters, and coil.when the engine warms up to temp the idle will fluctuate between 800-1500.also put new intake gaskets on,pcv valve, and removed and cleaned egr valve.can't locate any more leaks.any help would be appreciated.
Finally found the noise!!!

Just wanted to let yall know I finally figured out where that awful low sounding cylindrical noise that was coming from the center of my car was coming from.It was the outside wheel bearing on the passenger side. Finally changed that side out last week. The bearing was missing two balls and the metal cover that covers the bearings was sticking out about 1/4 inch.I have been lurking and searching for a long time, trying what others have found theirs to be and had no success.Just thought I would put this on here for someone else to see who may still be searching for their noise and have not tried this.Hope this helps somebody.
