  1. This is where I sit on the highway. This was on one of my many weekly trips across Michigan last year. I didn't keep it at 75 or so the whole way, but the tach wasn't too high, and I got better than 30 MPG the whole time. This is in an ALL original 1979 Brat, (4 speed of course)

  2. Do they only print these in this color? I have a set of 3M NOS exactly like these in the box. The ones on my BRAT have a metallic silver background rather than burgundy and I would much prefer that color (my interior is blue, and wouldn't go well with the burgundy). Is it possible to have them made like that. I will try and post a picture of mine.

  3. VERY nice BRAT! It's definitely something to start with for a resto. It's hard to see if there are any serious rust issues with the front fenders, wheel wells, etc. There is some rust under the plate on the tailgate. Also, missing trim on rocker passenger side, but that isn't the end of the world. Wish I could see a picture of interior and engine bay, not to mention inside rear bed area, under the rockers, etc. All in All, nice though!

  4. I have a 360 Pick up. It is absolutely hands down, the most fun vehicle I have ever driven, and to let you know, I have driven: a Lamborghini Countach, a Farrari, Dodge Viper, Chevy Corvette, and countless cafe style bikes that you can barely hold on to. If speed is all you are after, don't bother with a 360. You will NEVER have more people stop and ask you what you are driving, or how many GPH you get, or any other billions of questions, than driving a 360..... guaranteed!

  5. Nice brat!

Yes the glove box has a plastic strap that screws to it on the right side (see 2 holes)? the other end goes in the corresponding slot on the dash side, then has a 90 degree bend on it to keep it from slipping out.

The center vents in my brat NEVER blow worm air either. I think it is from the air being added at the dealer. However the warm air blowns out the dash on the 2 sides right next to the windows.

Also, the AC compressor on yours is deferent than any other gen 1 that I have seen. The original would be a square compressor, called a mini york.

  6. Todd,

That's why I'm considering going to a 5spd 2WD for my Brat. I will NEVER drive it in the snow, and probably never really take it too far off road. I have only put it in 4WD 2 times (just to make sure it still works) but I'd love to get 40 MPG rather than 30. I think I had it on the trails behind my house once and heard a branch (very small twig) scrape down the side and about had a heart attack. My Brat has spent it's entire life in a garage, and it's way too nice to do any serious 4 wheeling in.

  7. I would say probably you're right Crabman. I paid about 4k for my BRAT. I know the BRAT's typically go for more, but still, that wagon is SOOOO nice. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it sell for 9 or 10 grand on eBay. My Dad always, always told me that something is worth what you can get someone else to pay for it. I know the economy is bad right now, but there are still people out there with insane amounts of cash. If a hockey, baseball, football, or other professional athlete, or actor, or CEO wanted it......the sky is the limit!

  8. This is SO funny, ok, last night I was looking through ALL the bank deposit slips the previous owner used every time he did ANYTHING to the BRAT. There are like 10 slips with dates, mileage, and what was done. I got through that and looked in the dealer locator (I hadn't looked at before) and low and behold the sticker I was looking for, for the drivers door was stuck on the inside of the front cover of that book. It's still PERFECT! The guy that owned the BRAT before me was a FREAK about maintenance. He changed the oil sometimes every 300 miles......if it had been more than a couple months. I am SO lucky to have ended up with this BRAT! Thank You for the pictures though!

  9. Dang, Wish I had seem them. I did get a nice plaid blue seat back on eBay. That is one of the very few things I needed. I also need an antenna.....a crack head decided to use mine as a pipe while I was in Key West!

I would pay for the sticker, if someone could set it up and print it. Heck, I would buy the complete set (of the various ones, like caution, e brake adjustment, etc) if someone would make them!

  10. I am trying to gather some information for my BRAT. Does anybody have the original sticker on the driver side door above the door opener? I am either going to find another original sticker, or have one made. If anybody has one on a parts vehicle, I'd like to either buy it, or at least get a picture or scan of it. I know it's a very minor, minute part, but when I am done with my BRAT, I want it to be all there, like it was when new.

    Thank You for helping me.

  11. Todd, you're right about getting you back in touch with driving! I didn't have any of the items you listed, (except the factory subaru tool bag)! I was a little worried about some things you listed like the voltage regulator, and maybe the alternator, but no problems so far.

Crabman....my brat is a picasso! Looks GREAT from 15 feet! Get closer and it's a mess. LOL I took it to a paintless dent guy today, and he is going to go over the WHOLE thing for 400.00! Not bad considering the previous owner backed into a fire hydrant (and wrecked the tailgate). And there are plenty of parking lot dings. He said he will make every ding and dent disappear! Then I am going to have it painted. I'm still torn between white and silver. Any suggestions?

  12. yeah, I had that realization when I was looking at it this weekend...

right after I filled the oil in my mower I had a little epiphany and remembered that it needed that oil for other things... hehe...

unfortunately the tank it cracked diagonally in a couple spots on the front where the level lines are at... so I'll be needing to do some serious patching or find a replacement tank...

I think I'll need to take a couple close up pics and make a new thread for this one...

    thanks for the heads-up!

waiting for my 360 club membership with cd to come back in the mail so I have a slightly better idea of what I'm doing... slightly...

I'm a n00b so I'll leave the engine work to somebody more qualified...

    --Spiffy

That cd you are waiting for.....I burned personally, and sent 150 or so of them to the club. I scanned all the information contained on that CD.

    Good Stuff on there!
