  1. Snot. You’ve gots to get that BugaRu firing on all four cylinders. You should be able to turn better times then the 15 second mark. I’ve only had my car to the track once and due to the long staging lines I only made one run. I jumped the Christmas tree, and was disqualified. But my unofficial time was 13.7…. I really think I can do better times, I’m thinking in the 12’s, and with a little more preformance upgrades maybe even lower times. My car currently has a drag trans in it so it’s great gearing for the track, but considering building a Highway Flyer for going down the road.
  2. Hey Snot.. I think I remember chatting with you. Didn't you recently upgrade your Subaru powerplant, bad cams or something like that. Also I remember something like a bad ground wire or something like that with your ECU??? Hows the BugaRu running, have you had it to the track yet? Jon
  3. Oh-ooo yes, it has dusted more then a few Camaros. The best part of it all is the shock on the other drivers faces of the unsuspecting cars when my little BugaRu lunches off of a stop light like a rocket. The car is currently partially torn down paint touchup and new custom interior. In about two weeks it should be back together and at our Local Track for “Punch-Buggy Day” I do have a few pics but they don’t show the engine, just looks like any other beetle. I will have some new pics soon as I get it together.. How would I post a Pic on this site? So what can be done to this engine to make it a little hotter? The word is out on the street and the big guns are gunning for me. Just looking for a little more ammunition as I enter the next hostile street rod. Thanks Jon
  4. Guys.. Thank you for all of your responses. Maybe I’ve should of mentioned that the EJ2.2 engine is installed into an older VW Beetle project car. Correct the engine is nine years old, but it only has about 6K original miles on it and is just getting broken in as it’s becoming street legal in it’s new transplanted VW body. It has plenty of power and currently blows away most stock mustang 5.0’s… I’m just looking to do some research on how to get more out of the engine. Maybe even Turbo charging if that can be accomplished without breaking the bank. Keep in mind that the car only weighs about 1700-1800 lbs, so there is a big HP to weight ratio here. Not running cat’s or emissions. Plus the car is being built for mostly street cruising, and the occasional car show so I want to retain that sleeper look. The engine is strong, just looking to get more out of it, and to turn some faster times in the 1\4 mile. Thanks again. Jon
  5. Anyone have any hints or suggestions on where I can find information on what I can do to increase HP and performance to my 1995 Subaru EJ2.2 Engine. Performance Parts, Cams, Suppliers, etc. Thanks Jon
  6. Thanks for all of the help. You guys really know your Subaru's.. Now all, I've got to do is decide what and how to do it. Jon
  7. Hi.. Any of you guys know what components I would need to add a Turbo, or Supper Charger to my current 1994 Subaru 2.2.. By the way the engine is currently installed and running in a VW Beetle. Just curious what parts I need or if anyone has done this or if anyone has the items i need for sale. Thanks Jon
  8. Neil.. Thanks for your assistance. I have checed Aussie and even seacrched there for Mates who have done this. I swear that, that is where I saw someone that who has done this in the past, but couldn't locate the guy. So I also have posted this message on Aussie, no replies yet. What was it that you meant abouve about using the power steering pump for a auto pump. Can you translate that from Aussie - Americano? Thanks again, Dude. By the way you guys got some nice wheels down under.
  9. Thanks for the assisatance, and help. When reversering the intake, can I just swing the intake 180 degrees, or do I have to do anything with the heads? I can relocate the Alternator and provide for mounting brackets for it. I have no need for power steering so that is where the Alternator will go. I just need to be SURE that I can just swing the Intake 180 degrees with out disturbing the heads????????? Thanks
  10. Thanks Snot.. Hey did you ever get your Bug back together after you had engine trouble?
  11. Does anyone know or have experience on Reversing the Intake Manifold on a Subaru 2.2 The engine is currently in my 1966 VW Beetle and the Air Intake faces forward, and due to space requirements I'm thinking of reversing the Intake manifold so it faces towards the rear. I’m told this can be done by reversing the Intake 180 degrees, but not sure if it’s as easy as just reversing the Intake or does it also involve doing something with the heads? If it matters the engine is a 1994 Subaru 2.2 Thanks
  12. Dude. I just brought my Bug up 95 through Richmond Va. I could have stopped by. Yes it run's Sweet-ttttttt and extreamly quick. I think you may be the guy that asked me a question about the wiring? Glade you got it stright, your enjoy it. And yes you will need to build the Transmission to hold the power. Mine has a Drag Trany in it and also upgraded Disc brakes that can stop it. I'm currently in the process of gearing up to put together another SubieBug. Best Engine in the world.
  13. I loaned the car to a Chic for awhile “was out of State” and she broke down and had the car towed to a garage the mechanic showed her the broken belt and said that it had to be replaced. She said OK do it. Then he couldn’t get the car running correctly and said there is something wrong with the heads? Not really sure, that’s just what I’m being told.. Any idea’s what could have gone broke? The car only has 50k on it and I would like to put it back on the road.. By the way what other Engines will work in this car. The current one is under powered “it’s an Automatic”
  14. I have a old VW Bug with a Sube-eeeeee 2.2 engine Dyno’ed at 175 HP.. The baby screams, I can’t wait till I can get times in the ¼ mile this Spring. It's really sweet-ttttt. Still looking for idea’s to make the Engine Hotter. Gots any? I was looking for another engine to build another Bug with, when someone local showed up with the said 2.5 DOHC.. I also have a 1987 Subaru GL 4x4 fastback but it recently broke the timing belt and now needs a pair of heads. Got any?
  15. Thanks Scooby.. I'm confussed.. The Engine is said to be a 2.5 and the numbers that I provided are from the Engine Cases it-self.. Another confussing item is that the Engine is a DOHC engine? So if the numbers and the research is correct and it is a 2.2 did Zoobe ever produce a 2.2 DOHC Engine in the mid to late 90's?
  16. The Engine has DOHC's and I was told it is a 2.5 just not sure what year, or any other info about the engine?
  17. Hi Guy’s.. Any of you guys know what year this engine is.. I do know that it is a Subaru DOHC 2.5 and is a 1996 or newer, just not sure the correct Engine Specifications, HP, etc.. Can anyone help? The Back of the Engine Case by the Flywheel have these numbers. 207494206503 and also 023752 The Top of the Engine is marked with AB8133223 Also I noticed that Subaru only seemed to use the DOHC 2.5 Engines from 1996-1999? With the engines HP estimated from 150- 165 in the later year Subeeeez’s Is this correct and why? Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jon
