  1. Asking a favor (imagine that) for a vin report on a vehicle I'm considering purchasing. Please pm me if you want to help me out...much appreciated in advance. Thanks.
  2. rock auto actually carries the Subaru OEM pcv valve. I think maybe the fuel filter too, but not the air filter. They just forget to provide KY Jelly with the shipping on smallish orders.
  3. thanks that gives me some place to start! And we are down to $10 shipping on a pcv!
  4. I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseum here, however a search for the information proved fruitless for me. Where do you buy your parts online? Please recommend someone who doesn't rape you on shipping charges. I have done the typical google search, but at this point all the sites I've been on charge an arm and a leg for shipping. I mean $12 freaking bucks to ship a pcv valve (that's just shipping)? No way. I live 2.5 hours from the nearest dealer. Thanks in advance.
  5. Woke up this morning and had the same problem. I took off the hose and sprayed some wd40 in there. Blew some compressed air in the hose and replaced. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning. Thanks all.
  6. Anyone have a picture of the pvc location on a 1995 legacy? How hard is it to change? OEM all the way on this part? Thanks.
  7. Lately I have been noticing the door ajar warning light on the dash being lit. It goes out if I slightly tug on the driver side door, however it re-illuminates if I let go of the door. The issue is not with the plunger/sitch located on the jamb. If I apply gentle pressure with my finger the warning light goes off. So I guess the door is not lined up exactly right. Sometimes slamming it will shut off the light, sometimes not. Any clues, hints on lining up the door right? I know you can really screw it up if you're not careful. Thanks. 1995 Subaru Legacy Wagon L series
  8. I"ve got the same problem on the same year and model. I can get mine out however by kind of jiggling the key in and out while simultanously attempting to rotate the key back and out. It is frustrating but I have become very proficient at doing it.
  9. Be patient. Don't force it. There is always a better deal if you can wait. I'm not that familiar with Subaru's just crossed over from the world of Toyota, but that is my advice. I was determined to get a 1995 or 1996 Legacy Wagon with 5 speed. It took a long time, but finally I found exactly what I wanted.
  10. Okay I was able to pry back the cover a bit and noticed that it was a Goodyear timing belt. So it has been changed. Now, somehow when I attemted to back out one of the bolts holding the cover on I managed to every so slightly crack the bolt housing on the timing belt cover. Is this a big deal? Thanks.
  11. I registered my vehicle yesterday, it goes back to 1995. No service history has shown up yet as the site indicates that they are verifying that the vehicle belongs to me. In the toyota world the dealer always places a sticker on the timing belt cover that indicates the date and mileage of the last timing belt change. Thanks for the help.
  12. well safe to say I think i'm out of warranty Thanks for the help. Would it be strange for the dealer to not put a T-belt mileage sticker somewhere after the change? I'm just trying to cover my bases here and make sure that it has been done. Perhaps SOA keeps records of service done?
  13. I have a recently aquired 1995 Legacy wagon. Poking around under the hood I noticed that there are several dabs of white paint on various components. Specifically the timing belt cover. Also there is one on some smallish square box coming off of the air filter box (sorry for the technical terms there), Mass air flow sensor of some type perhaps? Also a third one near the driver's side shock mount under the hood. Does this indicate servicing? I was told by the previous owner that the vehicle had its 60000 mile service (no paper trail however). Any guess on what these dabs of white paint are?
  14. Pics soon to come. First to fix all the littel quirks that are bugging me: 1) new panel fasteners for the hatchback panel. 2) find some radio knobs 3) someday I'll fix the lighting on the climate controls that I learned about here already. Other than that there isn't much to be done...it just had its 60,000 mile service 5,000 miles ago
  15. hello, been lurking for a week now as the proud new owner of a 1995 Legacy Wagon L series. I picked it up off of craigslist in Chicago last week, so far so good. 5 spd, 64,000 miles. I was in the Toyota world for awhile with a 1st Gen 4Runner. Great car and fun to own, but the gas mileage was killing me. I figured an AWD wagon would suit my traveling needs better in the long run.
