2002 Outbacks - which models had the front seat side airbags? Was it only the limited?
-
Yikes, you were right - can't believe I didn't think of that! Missing a couple on the front right. Luckily a buddy has a couple here at work, hoping I can get them on and limp it home....THANKS!

Hey Guys,
My 02 Outback is making a bit of a rolling, thumping noise when i decelerate - seems to go away under breaking - this is a new one for me and I'm a bit stumped - any ideas?
-
Overdue follow up - turns out the brand new Duralast starter from Autozone failed after a week - replaced with one from Advanced Auto Parts - so far so good!
Thanks for all the tips

GD - I've never tackled much when it comes to electrical - can you walk me through what you are thinking of??
-
Hey Guys - back again - tested the battery with a multi meter - 12.6 volts - hit the key same click - hooked the battery charger - no go, same click - seems like the click is coming from the brand new starter - could the new starter be bad? maybe a relay issue? any advise would be appreciated, tired of the Subie sitting around...
-
I hate to ask but where would the relay be located? No time to research, have to take in a middle school play soon (grateful i have another vehicle) - and would a bad relay explain why it starts fine after it drove home?
-
I just checked all the cables everything is nice and tight - after the drive home starts effortlessly - sure seems like a charging / drain issue but the battery is 6 months old and checked fine at auto zone - GreaseMonkey03 - can't tell because of course it starts now that I'm home - i'm leaning in the direction of throwing a new battery and cables in....Might pick up a multi meter to check for a drain
-
Well, I thought I fixed the issue with a new starter - started great for three days then after work today, back to clicking - a quick push from some coworkers got me started and headed home - so, new starter, alternator, battery both tested good - Where to go now???
-
I have a curious starting issue with my 2002 Outback with 230,000 on the clock and new to me,.
Did not start one day after work - turned the key, only got a click
Got a push and bump started it and drove on home
the next morning same thing - just a click - hooked up the battery charger for a boost and it started just fine
Battery new, tested good - alternator tested good - all cables good, no loose connections
Any ideas before I pull the starter to have it tested???
Thanks,
-
Greetings - Long time member looking for buying advice - I have to replace my old friend Rubie the Subie - Love this old car and was heading for 300,000 miles (made it to 287,000) but a run in with a deer on the way to work this week changed my plans...
So - Looking for a replacment, something in the 10 year old range - anything out there i should avoid??? What's going to be the most bang for my buck?
Thanks!
-
Hey Guys - went with the reman alternator from the dealer - about $80 with a three year warranty....
-
Looks like I have to replace the alternator in Rubie the Subie (95 legacy wagon)
Who makes the best and who do i avoid?
Thanks!

my daily driver is a '95 Brighton with 247,000 on it and it just keeps rolling along - I have done my best with U Pull and Pay parts to de-brightonize it - I added the Tech, factory CD player, power-outlet, A pillar speakers - all the factory wiring is in place, just pull the parts and plug them in! Great little car!
-
Oil pressure sender replaced - cleaned up the motor as best as possible in the middle of winter - I'll let you all know if this fixed the issue
-
Hey Guys - long time since I've posted here - My '95 Legacy Brighton has developed a oil leak - a quick look and I found a puddle of oil on the passenger's side of the motor, on the top more towards the back....Won't have time to investigate fully until the weekend - any ideas? 2.2 with 247,000 on the clock....
-
Did you use a Subaru PCV valve? Off brands do not work well.

Check it out....Hope this hasn't been posted
-
Yep, I went back to the parts store and got 5/16. And I did use fuel injection hoses....That stuff is expensive!
-
Greetings,
Replacing the fuel filter in my '92 Legacy. I also want to replace the rubber fuel lines. What size hose is it? My local parts store said 3/8" but it seems a little to big? I certainly don't want any leaks.
-
My children have named my Subies:
'88 3 door was 'The Speedster'
'92 Loyale 4 door was 'Rubie The Subie' - Mica Rudy colored
My 'new' '92 Legacy is 'Winnie The Roo' - Whinestone colored
What can I say, they are only 3 and 7

Well I got her started. It was just an old and very nasty battery. Some water and baking soda on the cables and a fresh battery was all it took. It would not idle until I noticed the air intake was disconnected. She needs some TLC but she drove the 60 miles home with no problem. BTW, my brother in law is a slob...It may take a week to clean the inside :-\
-
It looks like I'm moving from the Loyale world to the Legacy world thanks to an icy road and a fence post. My sister has a early 90's Legacy that has been sitting more then driving for the last year. Now she says it won't start (turns over but will not start). What are the top five things I should investigate when I head over there this weekend?
