  1. Yes, I believe it is an EA82. If I understand right, the EA81 engine doesn't have timing belts and mine does (just replaced them a couple of months ago).
  2. Could someone verify which one I need for a 1988 GL Coupe?
  3. It's a GL coupe, 1.8 EFI.
  4. Where do you guys get your parts for axle or boot replacement? I'm finding it very hard to locate the proper parts, even the local Subaru dealership said they would have to order a boot for my 88 GL. The local NAPA store says they have one for a 1988 1800, would that work? Also, can someone give me the dimensions for the special tool (washer?) that is needed to reinstall the axle in the steering knuckle? I'd rather make one than have to purchase one if possible. Thanks
  5. Ok guys, what's the deal with having to replace the crush washer on the oil pan plug each time you change the oil? My local parts places don't have'em so I had to reuse the old one which leaks of course. Aren't there some sort of fibre washers that can be reused? Also, how do you keep from getting oil all over the skid plate when you drain the pan, do you need to remove it first? What do you do? Thanks
  6. Thanks. I have just finished a timing belt replacement and when I put everything back together couldn't figure out what the plug was for.
  7. What is this plug for? The wires run to the a/c compressor and the alternator but I don't see what plugs into it.
  8. I'm replacing the timing belts on my 88 GL Coupe since the driver's side broke. What's the process for setting the timing assuming I've lined everything up right while installing the belts? Thanks
  9. Duct tape? Around here that's known as "Alabama chrome"!
  10. You guys are a wealth of info. Thanks.
  11. Thanks for your patience and help. I have a/c and 6 mm mounting bolts. Looks like there's only one choice for that. Thanks
  12. How do I tell which waterpump to get? The Parts Bin has several to choose from. Thanks
  13. Thanks for the quick replies. Mike, I forgot about the hatchback thing thanks. Is the waterpump o-ring the one on the tube going into the waterpump or is there another one? I know there is a waterpump gasket that needs replacing as I've already pulled the pump. Maybe a dumb question but where exactly is the oil pump located?
  14. Gonna do a timing belt job on my 88 GL Coupe (driver's side broke) and have ordered the kit on e-bay that includes the tensioners. I'm going to replace the waterpump while I'm in there also. What else should I do while I've got everything out of the way? I've got one oil leak I'm going to address on the front passenger's side which I believe is the valve cover gasket.
